I'd hate to see him go, but for that price Rodgers could bring in another quality defender with half that sum and then another for the rest. Quality move for Bikey, too.

LoyalRoyalFan I don't know why people are slagging off Bikey,he is our best centre defender.

Pearce will be our best centre back soon. The lad has everything, and the ability to one day be a captain. Something Bikey hasn't.

£2.5m? Take it and run.

Stephen Hunt for Captain

LOL. Made me laugh ! More like Rodgers will get to spend 150,000 on a replacement and the rest will end up in MR Mads wallet !

You're aware that SIR John hasn't taken money out of the club according to the accounts aren't you? At least as far as I can follow with a little help from a few more knowledgable nobbers. Are you also aware we still owe him a fair amount of money?

I must be wrong, but I thought we HAD paid him what we owed him, or at least a sizeable sum.

strap Bite their oxf*rd arms off!!!! A ludicrous sum of money for reserve second tier centre half with an attitude problem!!!

PLEASE may this rumour come true. Then we're just left with Cisse and the non-footballer to move along. £2.5M for bikey means we can let these two numpties leave for nothing!!!

Why would you move on Cisse when we're short of centre backs if Bikey goes and he's proven he can play there?

He's proven he can play there badly, just as he's proven he can play centre mid badly, he was only kept so Coppell had an excuse not to sign and new centre half when we badly needed one.

Back to Bikey, shame it's come to this, great player, shite for brains, not just the moments of madness but the amount of times he switched off.

Think we need 2 centre backs if this happens, no idea what shape Ivar will come back in, Pearce lacks pace and experience, Jack Cork and someone with 200 games under their belt at this level will do the trick.

I think you're being pretty harsh on Cisse there.

Cisse's looked pretty good at the back as far as I've seen. With the minor problem that he isn't ... er dominant in the air.

He's not awful in midfield, he just doesn't quite have the brain for it and his passing isn't good enough.

He can pass easily well enough for a defender. It's the seeing space and his positioning in the vast acres of midfield which let him down. His strength and tackling are good.

Just don't think Cisse is good enough. Passes well enough for a defender, but can't head for a big guy and has no posistional sense and you can just see when he's on the ball, he's not a footballer.

Strangely for a centre half/centre mid his best attribute seems to be getting in the box from midfield. A few times he's looked like Paul Scholes getting in the box late.

Bikey is the opposite in that he has all the attributes, but as Coppell thought all along, you can't trust the guy.

BR favoured a 4-1-4-1 at Watford. Sitting infront of the back four might be ideal for the big fella.

Tbh I think that's where Harper could be invaluable with Marek and either Tabb or Karacan infront of him. Harper to distribute and hold up the opposition. Tabb/Karacan to do the tackling box to box work and Marek to play the killer balls.

I thought Harper was an attacking midfielder?
When Sidwell was here, it was mostly Harper who attacked and Sidwell who stayed back - hence why last summer he was bought as a replacement for Barry.

You got there before me. I am amazed that so much utter tosh is spouted on here at times. Sidwell was definitely the attacking one of the pairing; I agree that harper should be an attacking midfield player - but WR is right, to suggest that they actually played that way is absolute rubbish.

Did you ever see Harper and Sidwell play together? How do you think Sidwell managed to get close to 10 goals most season? Harper could be a reasonably talented attacking midfielder, but he's been played as the less attacking if not more defensive for at least 5 years here.

Ok, apologies. I wasn't really understanding of football back then. Only recently have I started to care.
