Royal Lady More worrying for me is the fact that no-one appears to rate SHunt as highly as he himself does and we're going to be lumbered with him this season on a huge salary and with a bad attitude.

Have some patience woman...

Not a lot happens until clubs are back for pre-season and the contract start date of 1st July passes. Agree that I would've expected a little more in the media about clubs thinking of making a move for him, but with the other stories for the papers to cover at the moment they've not got to run with too many column fillers at the moment.

It often takes a couple of the big transfers to go through before the whole thing kicks off anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it yet, we'll get shot of him eventually.

No. I would go to wolves if I was Doyle. And he would go with my blessing (not that he needs it).

And we can't have a bidding war thanks to that daft clause!

Obviously Everton would be the place to go but it looks like the "talk" of them wanting him is the standard pile of made up drivel we've come to expect from the media.

Of the teams mentioned I'd go to join the Sunderland revolution under Mark Hughes or join Fulham as Roy Hodgson is a class coach and I wouldn't have to move.

Bolton and Wolves would both be non-starters.

Without the clause he wouldn't have signed the new contract at the turn of the year. That means we either would've lost him in January or his value would be less now because of the shorter contract he was on.

Sparky's a Mackem now?

I don't see why Bolton is a non-starter - I'd agree Fulham are a better bet for Doyle but Bolton are an established Premier League club (albeit lower-mid-table fodder under Megson), safer bet to stay up than Wolves but small enough for Doyle to continue receiving the adulation he's used to. Good move for him, I'd say - but I wouldn't think they've got £6.5m to spend on someone who's not really fully proven himself at the top thus far.

He'd be more stupid to stay here.

I wouldn't say he'd be stupid to go there, but maybe a little hasty.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blackburn go for him with the money they got for Cruz. Hopefully a bidding war will start and the money will go up?

The 17 Bus Goes to Wolves, scores a bit, they go down, he can move to another club, is in a better situation than kitson who failed to score at Stoke and will now not be in demand, however moves have to be made, Doyle can score in the prem and deserves the chance to do it.

good luck to whichever club he moves to.

Yet more millions in the bank at RFC wonder who signed him??

And who is to blame for the fact he'd now be stupid to turn down Wolves for another season with us?

This may come as a shock to many of the Coppell @rse lickers who infest these pages but, since we finished 39pts ahead of Wolves, in 2005-6, they have caught up and passed us as our Premier Squad (so described by our new manager on his first day) succeeded in being relegated and was then denied a swift return thanks to a Burnley team whose manager still possessed the ability to get the best from limited resources.

I don't want Doyler to stay as we no longer deserve his loyalty..................get back to where you belong and, if that's with Wolves, so be it.

I will be gutted to see him go but have been resigned to the fact that his departure will happen this summer.

You just know it will not happen until after the Friday deadline for renewing season tickets though!

Still would have thought Villa and Everton would be interested bearing in mind they are playing in Europe next year and need bigger squads. With Everton's striker injuries last year I think a lot will depend on whether Saha and the Yak are showing positive signs of full fitness. Thought Villa were long term admirers and in the current market 6.5m for a 25 year old who has played at the top level and is a regular international is not too much of a gamble for a club with top 4 aspirations.

Still don't want him to go though!!

I can see why Doyle would want to go to Wolves as they are in the Prem. But lets face it, they are likely to come down next season, so a move there would be a waste of time imo. However I heard on Radio Berks this morning that the fee could be in the region of £7m...What a great bit of business by Reading that would be!

RFCBoy Kevin Doyle has been linked hugely with a move to wolves for 6.5 million pounds. Would he be stupid to leave Reading for wolves taking into account wolves are most likely to be relegated again next season. I'm not saying he should stay at Reading but surely he can find a bigger and better club than Wolves.
As far as stepping stones to the big clubs go, a decent season in the top flight for Wolves would attract more interest than a decent season in the Championship for Reading.

However, this didn't work out to be the case for Dave Kitson.

The increase in wages that Doyle would get I imagine, in his eyes, see it as not a waste of time.

I can see it making good sense all round for Doyle to leave now, but I don't want him to. I still think he could do well next season under Rodgers, which would be a new challenge for him, but this is a good chance to play in the Prem and it will be a good price we'll get back.

I imagine that Doyle has other considerations on his mind apart from the money he'll be getting - not that that wouldn't be one of them - but if he's happy here (and his girlfriend is) uprooting to go somewhere like Sunderland will be something he'll need to think about. Wolves and Fulham don't seem that far away.

Thomas L'Heureux
Alan Partridge These 'bigger' clubs have had 2 years to buy him and no one did, same with Hunt.

If Wolves are the ones putting £6.5million up then I'd take that straight away, Doyle was outstanding before Xmas and then meh after.

People said the same about Stoke last season and they survived comfortably, there is no reason why Wolves can't do the same.

Surely Mick McCarthy is a reason?

Hardly. In his failure at Sunderland, the then-owners essentially gave him precisely no money to spend. Taking them up as Champions was an impressive achievement.

That said, I think he is best at making a team overperform through teamwork and getting the most out of a few players. He's not a bad manager.

Brilliant video of Doyle. A good tribute.
