And i may be wrong but im pretty sure a tour of 2nd rate swedish teams preceded at least one of the 106,or 8th place seasons.

Its great to see the kids coming back from their loans hungry and wanting to force their way into rodgers plans. Id say that davies,kanu,and church are right on his radar now. Well played to the lads really.

Jonsereds IF are apparently the equivalent of a League 2 side, so in my eyes its a good result.

Interesting to note that Pearce played but Gunnarsson was selected as captain.

That isn't interesting. Rodgers is giving anyone that wants the role of captain a chance. I really don't see, and hope I don't see Gunnarsson starting games next season.
As mentioned already elsewhere, Church and Robson-Kanu are already lightening the burden of losing someone like Kevin Doyle, and soon Stephen Hunt.
When we have a fit Noel Hunt, where will Shane Long find himself? 3rd choice again already for me, certainly if Church can take this form, and last seasons into the Championship!

Is it just possible that the youngsters have detected a wind change and suddenly see more of a level playing field? Seeing that there is an opportunity to get to play in the first team is giving them he encouragement to make the step up. I have said it before but I think SSC missed a trick by not shaking up the support staff last season. It got too samey and too comfortable for too many.

He's very raw though, and will frustrate a lot of people if he plays regularly this season. Church makes some fantastic runs and needs players with the intelligence and craft to exploit them in a timely fashion. Hopefully R-K can do that.

i am all in favour of a pre-season tour of Sweden. I did hear that they wanted to extend the tour to Norway but couldn't afjord it...

These tours to Sweden are excellent for our pre-season, and I don't think it was a coincidence that the year we got relegated was the year we didn't go over there for some team bonding and relatively easy games.

I do worry that we've not a couple extra, more testing friendlies when we get back though. Apart from Chelsea we've not really got any games where the players are going to be properly tested and for any chinks in the armour to be exposed.

As for these games being anything other than training sessions and the scorelines being relevant, anyone who gets anywhere near carried away by them is being a little naive really.
