I don't get why people will think that BR will drop Pearce - why appoint him Vice captain if he's not even going to be featuring on the bench?!!

I reckon Mills will be dropped and put in the reserves while he gets up to match fitness... from what I've seen of him he seems to be a bit slow and off the pace at times!!

For me the team would look like this:

.....................Fed.......................
Cummings...Mills...Pearce....Bertrand
...................Gunnarsson...............
.........Karacan.............................
...........................Howard.............
McAnuff..................................Kebe
...................N.Hunt......................

Subs: Hamer, O'Dea, Sigurdsson, HRK, Rasiak, Tabb, Matejovsky.

I only thought of 1 striker on the bench because I can't really see Long, Church or Mooney coming off the bench to change a game for us.

cmonurz To echo the sentiments at the top of this thread, what the fcuk is going on?

That team is unrecognisable. Oh well, through thick and thin....

Two of the biggest critisisms of SC's reign were that he was too loyal to his "favourites" and that he signed players from unexpected sources that nobody had ever heard of.

It appears that BR will not be afraid to tinker with his selections and nobody's place is guaranteed.

All his signings, apart from O'Dea, have some experience of playing at championship level so there should be no need for any bedding in period.

Pure guesswork on my part. Assumed BR would go with "his" players. On the strength of what I've seen so far, yes on reflection I'd also take Pearce ahead of Mills. On the assumption that as a loanee O'Dea goes straight in, of course.

For me 2 players who have to keep their place after recent performances are Karacan and Sig....therefore whether or not Howard plays depends on how BR wants to set up against Donny.

For me:

Fed

Cummings
O'Dea
Mills
Bertrand

Karacan
Howard
Sig

McAnuff
NHunt
Kebe

I would suspect that Mills may be dropped for O Dea... However Neither Mills or Pearce have done anything wrong to warrant being dropped .

Why so sure that O'Dea will start? Maybe, just maybe, he will have to earn his place first.

FWIW - my team would be the following:

Fed

Cummings - O'Dea - Pearce - Betrand

Gunnar

Sig - Karacan - Kebe

Rasiak - NHunt

Subs:

Perm any 7 out of the squad!!!

A complete stab in the dark -

Hamer
Mills
Howard
Marek
Long
HRK
Cisse

I am not sure that O Dea will get a start that why I said that Mills may be dropped...

I do think that the Mills Pearce pairing has been pretty solid .. From what I have seen of O Dea hes a solid player

Change Marek to karacan, because i couldnt be asked to sub him in for the match last night:L

But yeah this would be the 'best' team in my eyes to field against Donny. & yes you might have to stretch your viewing window for it to all fit in

Before it was more of a choice between who was best for the position (2 from Doyle, Lita, Kitson or 2 from Gunnar, Sidwell, Harper) know it seems like lets pick who's going to feck it up the least

Not for me. But if you want to be a tediously negative pcunt then fair enough.

To be fair, that's what you end with when you panic buy in the bargain basement.

IF there was a grand strategy this window, (other than ship anyone out with any experience and only get people in who can be paid weekly in loose change), it is not immediately obvious.

But then BR is special so it's probably no wonder that we mere mortals have no idea what his plans are.

In all seriousness, this might be a case of adopting one of SSC's strategies, and bed the new signings in in a couple of reserve friendlies. Or is BR saying the Academy lads thrown in at the deep end are suddenly not up to job? Anyway, some plusses :

Rasiak at 6'3" adds something diferent, (but hopefully no more aimless balls lumped forward for the big man to get his nut onto please!)
Howard would suggest we now have someone in midfield who can actually tackle
No idea behind the thinking of replacing BOTH full backs, (with a wealth of experience), with kids who ... well, haven't! Could be very exciting .... or very worrying! Not sure I understand BRs assessment that they are "modern" full backs. Anyone got any thougts on that?

Some misgivings:
McAnuff I fear has opinions of himself that are far in advance of his actual abilites - his career path to date suggest that to me anyway, (as evidenced by any number of Sham fans BTW). Also, I would guess his wages wouldn't be insignificant - so why buy him? Because the fans were getting restless and Mr Mad and Squeaky needed someone to appease them?
Why has O'Dea been signed - given only until end Dec, must be as cover for Ingimarsson?

Anyway - absolutely NO idea what the team will be v Doncastor, except of course that the non-footballing winger will be the first name of the team sheet. But what it does mean is that I'll be there to see it. Not often you put down Doncastor at home as a must see game, but it is now!

Back with more illogical rantings soon .....

I am not going to even try and second guess what big watch man is going to do. For all I know the next 6 games will see 6 different line ups and potentially as many different formations. As for identifying those in line for splinters in their arses, your guesses are as good as mine. Could make for interesting times at Hogwarts.
