Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Well if he likes any other foregin signing we've made he'll need at least a year to settle in and I would imagine a loan out to the lower leagues as well.

Really hope this is a chance signing, rather than the only striker that we'll sign. You just don't know with what's going on at the moment...

I'm hoping he isn't THE ONE, and that we'll see at least another forward and a winger come in as well, and obviously a proper right back as well.

He looks ok in the small amount of clips, which any player should of course, but I just have the feeling he might be a bit of a Uwe Hartenburger.

Have we signed anyone from abroad who could be considered a success?

Shaka and Convey are the only two who come to mind.

Certainly gonna have to sell before we buy.

Man Friday
Ryn I fully expect the pressure on him to be enormous once he starts playing, and for him to wither and die, bagging maybe 5 goals in the remainder of the season.

ditto.

Nice to see some positivity with this move

Good point, and it shows exactly why players playing for English (British perhaps) clubs command a bigger transfer fee from English clubs than someone playing abroad somewhere.

I'm trying to think of anyone else we've brought over who's been a success and I really can't think of any! We haven't actually bought many from abroad though to be fair.

Yeah Bikey. Though he never really settled.

Ireland and Scotland doesn't count.

Don't want to piss on Thorvalsson's flame, but if he is a success it will take time and people shouldn't expect him to hit the ground running.

He's cheap and hopefully hasn't taken anything out of the budget....

Yeah I guess so. I was kind of, harshly probably, putting him in the same bracket and Cisse and Kebe as not great successes because they never really held down a place in the side.

They were all bought in as Premiership players, the latter two definately are not, but yeah I guess Bikey could be counted as a success.

I'm not sure Bikey has quite got the mental skills to be a Premiership player.

Abroad where his mental lapses would be less punished would suit him imo. But I guess he'll make a lot more money as a strugling Prem player than he would as an average French player.

howser From what has been written about this fella, he would have appearde to have been on the radar for some while and was talked about during November, if he is available to medical etc now..........

why didnt we pick him up before the window closed two weeks ago ??

Because the transfer window is shut until 1st January and the "emergency loan window" only applies to clubs in the Football League, therefore as Thorvaldsson is with Esbjerg, the deal would not have received international clearance.

Next we'll need a chant for him, so let's scrap "Blue Army" and change the lyrics to "Thorvaldsson" instead.

His loan will be confirmed in the next few hours, loan agreement until the end of the season and then Reading have the option to buy him at a fixed price at the end of the season.

If he's flying in he'll do well to do that.

If W_R is right on another thread and Rodgers is going bye bye then Thorvalsson is going to be mighty peeved. As is any new manager that our striker budget is used up on a guy he's never seen.

It was McDermott rather than Rodgers who was most involved in getting Thorvaldon down here though.

May still go ahead if, and that's a big if, Rodgers goes.
