juanpablo he was missing as usual last night

not a loss but thanks for the effort

Funny that; according to the commentary I was listening to, he was very much involved in helping create their first goal.

A very big loss and his loaning out to save the tightarse a bit of money in the short term will be a contributing factor to our massive longer term loss.

Good luck to him, thought he had a solid game the other night. The reaction he got from some of the away support did surprise me a bit, don't quite understand what he has done to deserve that - for me is one of those players that when he plays against us he should always get a good reception at start and finish of the game, with some friendly banter during it

Never my favourite player, think he has many faults but is a million miles better than some of the shit that turns out in the centre of our midfield these days.

All the best Harps

Ian Royal Congratulations Harps, all the best with Sheffield.

It very nearly hurt hearing your name as you played for the opposition.
IMO we should have built our midfield around you and Marek with another to be a box to box workhorse.

it was the wrongest thing since relegation.
awful to hear, everytime i heard him driving towards the reading box i was thinking "james? what are you doing?!
it definitely hurt

For me, as a character will be missed, as player won't be missed.

One of the many reasons why we are something like 35 places lower than we were 4 years ago.

Chronicle says McD tried to recall him but to move hit a stumbling block. Harper also said the stick he got from the Reading fans was 'poor'...

Arch Personality-wise, my favourite ever Reading player. So many of the 06 team brought character to the field, and that's desperately missing now.

+ 1,000,000

Only player with any sort of personality these days is the sig.

Linden Jones' Tash his debut against rotherham (?)

Yes, it was against Rotherham, I still remember it as he scored the first goal in a 2-0 win and he showboated so much that misery guts Pardew told him to tone it down.

+1 to this apart from to say that as a character he won't be missed. He always came across as a thoroughly irritating individual with the maturity and sense of humour of a small child.

as a player, he was the ideal partner for Sidwell but it was time to move on.
as a person, all i can say was that he was an absolute star when he was captain and my son was mascot - good bloke

Wasn't the weekend, but otherwise +1.

I was under the obviously mistaken impression that virtually all people who bother to make it to away games are deep-seated supporters of the club and therefore should able to make better judgements about ex-players who served their club faithfully for a number of years (8 years in Harps case - no mean feat in the modern game) than the reactionary hate-mongers who simply want to spread their narrow-minded bile to all and sundry. Anyone booing Harper and/or calling him a Judas are twats of the highest order.

Sorry, Harps. You deserve a lot better than Reading mong-fans. Good luck and thanks.

+ 1

The heart of the 06-08 teams as far as I am concerned
Haven't come to terms with a lot of things about post Prem Reading but no Harper in the team is the most difficult to handle - it just feels plain wrong

I love this bit about loyalty, as if he was forever turning down offers from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
