Royal1983 Mills swore after the booing started, he was being booed every time the ball came to him. Agree he shouldn't have done but he did, he has since appologised so everyone needs to get over it and move on. A player should never be booed by his own supporters as that defeats the object of supporting the team. He has 1 bad game and a few people jump on him for it, he's human for f's sake not a robot!

Were you there???? Were you in the East Stand??? If you were, then you would know that it was groans of frustrations at the team and NOT booing. You simply could not have been there and are writing this from the ill reported comments of others...

As my Season ticket was in East Stand I was there so get your facts straight!! He was booed more than once by the people around me twice actually before he swore!

No.. there were small boos after his first two gestures, where he told the crowd twice to F**k off. Thats when he decided he'd stick his finger up for everyone to see. If you bothered paying attention you'd know this.
Also, PLEASE stop with all these threads... this is exactly what we DIDNT want. The guys apologised to the fans, thats ALL that there should be. No more god-awful threads from whiny low-lifes who have nothing better to do than wind up other supporters from their own club.

Oh sod off Spacey you absolute pile of spunk. You're just the sort of person I hate. I am NOT a Matt Mills "boo-boy" I simply said what happened, and got backed up by MANY people (so you can stop with your "trying to justify your actions" rubbish) but I said I am NOT against him, I fully accept his apology and will treat him as any other player next game.
What I AM against is people who haven't a clue what they're talking about (you're probably the biggest culprit on here) who continuously drag stuff out just because they have nothing better to do.
Prat.

Sun Tzu
bigshaka'away' IDIOT. Mills was booed AFTER he gave the finger. So no im not going to apologise to him. Why should I. He has to the fans and thats what should have happened. End of story. You can if you like.

If Mills was booed AFTERWARDS what prompted him to make the gesture ?

He was booed twice (at least) before he turned and saluted the East Stand.

FWIW I don;t think the fans owe anyone an apology. The tactic was rubbish and deserved the catcalls, just sad for Mills that he was the one tasked with putting the tactic into effect. It would have deserved the boos even if it had been Parky, Murts or Shaka doing it.

No, no he wasn't.

What happened was the crowd groaning and getting restless when he thumped the ball out of play, a massive cry of " ffs" could be heard, not boo's which is ENTIRELY different.

He was boo'd after he gave the finger as people were too shocked to do it when he he gave the one fingered salute.

Talk about an over-reaction.

I saw a lot of arm-waving and gestures aimed at Mills from where I was sat high up in the North stand. So there was something that Mills didn't like for him to react. Don't come on with that guff about no booing before the gesture.

But I don't want an argument with some dick who is calling me names because I didn't agree with him. So I won't bother to reply on this thread anymore this afternoon.

I saw someone write "Mills you're a c*nt, get out of our club" on a turd-wrap and then throw it at Mills before the incident.

I think you're a little optimistic to think a player (or indeed anyone else in the ground) would be able to differentiate between 'groans' and 'boos'. From where i was there was a noise which was clearly a negative reaction to what Mills was doing. I didn't analyse the exact nature of it but that's pretty irrelevant. It was clearly a negative response to what he was doing. Not unjustified, but it's a bit daft to try and claim it was one type of noise rather than another.

from where I was sitting in Y24 I did not hear boos.. The closest I heard to boo was Hoof.. But if these people who are hell bent on dragging this out have made their minds up that He was booed twice (at least) well they can live in their own little world as they tend to anyway. Maybe they should get down to the doctors and get a hearing test as hoof and boo are quite different

At the end of the day it was a storm in a tea cup lets move on and support the team.

Boo's sound completely different, are you kidding me? How long have you been going to football?

With your logic a footballer wouldn't be able to tell a cheer from a jeer, does it sound like boo's when we score in your world?

Booing is entirely different than a cry of frustration ( which is what it was). Thats why I think Mills was out of order, had it been boo's I would have had a lot more sympathy as booing your players on a run like we are on is ridiculous.

Still far to much navel gazing about this petty incident.

Footballers know that the Frank Fickles of this world have been attending football matches ever since the game was invented.
They also understand that whilst they will get the adulation of the crowd when the score a screamer, they will also get the brickbats when they miss a sitter from three yards.
They also understand that as they are in the public eye, there are standards of behaviour that are expected, and giving the paying customers the finger falls below the standards expected.
Sometimes, the provocation can mitigate the players actions, but even in such cases, the player will not escape punishment altogether.

So, let's get a bit of perspective here.
No one threw bananas at Matthew. (read Paul Canoville)
No one shouted abuse relating to his parentage or family (Eric Cantona)

It's an over reaction to do what he did whether he heard "boo" "hoof" "youth" "tooth" "spoof" or whatever.
He has now acknowledged that and apologised.
There are few formal standards of behaviour required to watch a football match, but I think it is fair to say that most cogent humans can see the difference between giving a player some stick, or being out of order.
This board mirrors those sat in the stadium. The person sat next to you might spend great chunks of the game slagging so-and -so off. You might feel differently. It doesn't make one supporter more right, or better, or more loyal than the other, because just like this board, it's just an opinion.

Arguement = discussion. This is a discussion board.

The "collective" on Tuesday was made up of 16,000 odd individuals, each with their own prejudices, opinions, and pecadillos.

Booing is unnecessary, negative and an anathema.

^ hold on tight to those reins, it is a long way to fall should you topple off your horse.

I totally disagree with booing. However, I do insist on exercising my right to audibly voice my displeasure should I be disatisfied at what I have paid to watch.
