Good news. I won't bore everyone again with the reasons why I think he's the best all round midfielder in the squad, just to add that he is dependable, adds valuable experience and is a genuine role model for the younger players in the squad. Reminds me a lot of Parky. Every year, people write him off but every year, his performances more than justify his presence in the squad.

He's certainly a decent pro, a credit to the game & I'd definitely give him another year.
A good Championship outfit is his level if he remains fit.

Which is what we are.

BobKnows I'm not embarrassed to say I LOVE THIS MAN.

He's getting on 35, has the air of a workhorse, and yet has moments of genius, and you just know you are going to get an absolutely commited performance everytime he is on the pitch. LOVE HIM, LOVE HIM, LOVE HIM

+1.

Hasn't often been 1st choice at Reading but has remained loyal to the club and keeps turning in the performances despite his age. His assist at Anfield and his goal at Old Trafford are two of my favourite moments as a Reading fan.

I think he has contributed enough to earn another contract. I imagine his experience is nice to have enough the place, as well.

A club legend in my eyes. A model professional.

He's just tallking over a new contract though, and could still go. Usually at this age we only offer 1 year, if he got an offer for longer elsewhere he'd probably take it.

Mixed feelings on this. I've never been a fan of his but when he's come in for the odd game or off the bench he's been ok. I would only keep him because he could play RB, CM and DM when we're desperate and only if we were to get rid of Cisse and Davies.

I wouldnt go as far as player of the season as some muppet mentioned on here. did you not see him at the first half of the season?

Ian Royal If Bryn is staying we really must offload Cisse. It is simply not good sense to have 4 defensive midfielders at the club and Tabb & Karacan are the future for us there.

Hopefully Marek will go as well, although really I think we need to offload at least 3 midfielders this summer.

I think Marek and Cisse are goners Ian.

Give that man a contract. Cover for 3 positions and he always excels when called upon. The argument that he is keeping young players out of the team is bogus because if they are good enough they will get picked ahead of him on their merits.

Very happy with this. I still think that he's one of our best ball retainers when he plays in CM, certainly better than Karacan (for now anyway) and Cisse.

Sun Tzu Sad what concussion can do to you.

I bet Bryn really believes it as well !

Not more nonsense from a typical source surely but, hey, "respect" ref

My over riding emotion when I watch Bryn is, if only we had signed him 10 years ago.

His nutmegging of the Liverpool defender, on the way to delivering the perfect cross for Shane Long to secure what is arguably the best result in our history, was my moment of the season by a country mile.

Were it not it for Steve Coppell's one eyed view of Ivar Ingimarsson, his fellow countryman would have walked away with the champers for yet another competent performance standing in at full back (for a full 2 hours against Premiership opposition :| ) just as he does when asked to do the same at centre half.

Simply, he's our Ryan Giggs............................ no longer able to handle the same number of games as the under 30's but as one of the most accomplished performers we have ever had (at least as good as Sidwell at the same age) worth another 12 months with bells on.

As this thread shows, the world is full of idiots and we have our fair share but please ignore them, Bryn. Another great effort from you and I really hope this turns out to be true.

Bryn's been rejuvinated in the second half of this season and on that basis he deserves another year.

As others have said he's versatile, gives 100% and seems a very positive presence around the club.

That being said I'd be dissapointed if he takes playing time away from Jem next season, I think his time as a 1st team regular is coming to an end and the club should be looking towards the long term.

I hope so. Personally I'd have shipped out all three, but I can see why he's getting a contract offer and people want to keep him. I just don't agree with sentimentality in these things and I think he's an easy option for reducing wage bill and squad numbers without any cost to us.

think hes been my favourite RFC player ever since he arrived pretty much. the way he just slots in where ever hes asked to, always gives 110%, never really lets us down, and has scored some absolute belting important goals for us.
and a thoroughly lovely chap to boot.

'greed about the important goals. Always seems to pop up at the right time, in the right match... However, that moment when he struck the ball against Utd at home in the cup in the dying moments of the game, I knew, I just knew, it was going in. It was Brynjar, in the last minute, it couldn't miss.

Then it bounced off the woodwork.

Gutted.

Sort of agree but Matejovsky does seem to pick up a lot of niggling injuries and for various reasons he just does not seem destined to be successful at Reading.
We have a top heavy number of midfielders at the club and some are going to have to go in the summer. I can see Marek being one of them.

How can a player who covers at least 3 postions be "an easy option for reducing the wage bill" when surely, back on planet Earth, getting rid would be more likely to have the very opposite effect :|

Because we already need another new centreback ideally so there is no point in having 3 / 4 and several others who can play there.

We already need a new right back so there is no point in having him as cover for there.

We already have plenty of central midfielders with strong defensive qualities.

He fills no gaps where there isn't already cover or a new signing required anyway.

If I was your mother I would be seriously worried about you. Does your wife ever trust you to do the weekly shop :|

We would be better off off loading at least 2 other players rather than Gunnarsson...................................how about Cisse, Marek, Cummings and Ingemarsson for starters?
