Thankgodisfriday When the read the Evening Post my maths went askew and I thought that more than a million for the Georgian was too much. Now ive got my head straight and see its only hundreds of thousands im quite surprised that we havent gome for it.When was the last time a sub 1 million player was too expensive, even Brian Howard was 500k!

How do you know we aren't. We know from past experience that Hammond negotiates very hard on transfer fees (remember Tommy Smith???) so we say to the press that we are being priced out in an attempt to get them to lower the asking price a bit. It's all part of the negotiation........we may still not get an agreement at the end of it but why should we just give in to their demands?

It is actually a new contract with massively increased wages and in all probability a release clause (at around £5m) - not just a simple contract extension.
