Does that mean we could own a share in a footballer? That way we could sell him in January if he is playing well and make a profit thus derailing our own promotion bid, or if he is playing badly get him round to do odd jobs around the house instead of sitting on the bench on a Saturday.

Or maybe lets not bother he is getting on a bit

It's the bald patch that's making people think he's older than he really is!

Great idea, I just don't think enough people would donate.

Maybe we could get Madejski involved so what ever the Reading fans raise, he'll double it.

Its a sad day if Reading cannot afford 1 million on a player, it really is.

Blackburn were reported as wanting six figures for him, not seven.

But Royals manager Brian McDermott has conceded that any deal to bring the 28-year-old back to the club looks dead now Rovers have put a six-figure sum on his head

When you consider Mr Mad paid a million pounds for Lita, then a million pounds for Zurab is a no-brainer really.

The money we made from the FA Cup run should go towards getting him here - assuming he'll be happy to take a drastic wage cut from what he was getting at Blackburn, of course.

All Reading are doing is negotiating the price to one they think he is worth. If they can't do that then they won't buy him.

Or do you think we should just pay the price that any club demand for one of their players?

If 15,000 people bought a season ticket we could afford to buy him. Yay!

But it doesn't work like that. If blackburn decide he's worth 1 million and will settle for nothing less, he won't be going anywhere unless someone pays that price. He's easily worth 1 million in this market. Got a good 5 years left ahead of him and showed some quality performances last season.

Thames If you feel I can't be trusted, I'm happy for us to all agree on a specific individual to do this.

John Madejski?

Definitely not - anyway it is probably him posting as Thames!!

But we still wouldn't spend the cash!

Incidentally, not sure how a six figure sum has suddenly turned into £1M (not aimed at you RL).

He'll only move if our valuation and Blackburn's are compatible. If they think he's worth £750k and we think £250k it ain't happening and rightly so.

Dodgy economic climate, player wants to leave and club wants him off the wage bill. That all spells strong negotiating position for us and there's no reason we should cough up £500k for him IMO.
Our budget is more required elsewhere at the moment so we'll get what we want or string it out a long old while yet trying to get what we want.

I don't think our budget is required anywhere else though. We have a packed midfield and strikers are fine. Last week we signed a left back too. The only positions we need to strengthen are right back and centre back and zurab has played both at different stages in his career. I expect to see him here next season, he's an ideal fit and was proven he's more than upto the task. He's also made it very clear he wants to come here. It would be really poor from the club if he's not in a Reading shirt next season given these two factors.
