Tony Le Mesmer Nope, Tabb broke into the team 2 seasons after that game.

Just checked soccerbase, apologies, you are right and I am wrong.

Quoted for emphasis

Dunno why you're emphasising it, I've never claimed to always being 100% right.

We currently play many of the kids you couldn't wait to send out on loan.

.

Well worth highlighting that, the strategy has paid dividends (and been carried on by the current regime) so a big thanks to SSC for the work he did in ensuring the kids were ready for first team action when the time was right !!

:P

I don't suppose you would see the "time being right!!" coinciding with the time your hero walked out the door as being relevant in any way? Thought not.

I suspect he could have used one or two a bit earlier (although hard to say who - certainly not Gylfi, he did give Henry games, we didn;t have the option to chuck a young keeper in, Pearce did get plenty of games and karacan was also used). I think my point is rather stronger than yours though. The way the youngsters WERE handled seems to have paid dividends, that is fact. Your belief that Coppell deliberately held them back is pure speculation coming from someone with a preset agenda. And therefore of marginal relevance

There's more chance of hell freezing over than Siggurdsson not having been fit to play any part in the previous campaign having taken the last by storm and that's despite what McD said in the fans forum..................like you, he will never say anything that puts his mate Steve in a poor light.....................and I wouldn't expect him to.

The only agenda I have is being a Reading fan and, from that point of view, if Steve Coppell was still here I believe most of us would still be saying Gylfi, who?

Harper would be a good signing for Coppell IMO. Assuming there wasn't too much damage done over the whole captain substitution thing.

OK fair dos, you know much more about Gylfi than either Coppell or McD !!
I've no problem with you and your wild fantasies, shame you can never back them up with any kind of logic.

Coppell had no problem putting youngsters in the side (see the facts) and as I have said his strategy of giving the young players plenty of lower league experience before blooding them has been proven to be spot on. Anything else is the wishful thinking of a beaten man.

And moving on!!!!

Or not for some.

PS Ingi has signed a new deal WR, BM seems to think he is worth keeping, along with Gunnar, perhaps the reason might be that Gylfi signed for us due to the Icelandic players already here. Adds to a good dressing room.

Isn't this all moot?

Why would any player want to leave Reading for BristoLOL City?

Looks as if Sonko and Harper will be heading to BC rather than any current Reading players.

But yet you all still bother to reply lol.

WR views on steve coppell are cringe worthy, ill-educated and down right ridiculous. We all know this.

Thirded, we are 4th favourites for the title this season according to sky yesterday. Why would any of our players want a step down?

Bristol finished one place below us. It's more a step sideways and it's quite possible Coppell could convince some of them there is a better chance of Bristol pushing on than Reading, given all our cost cutting excercises and the noise that's been coming from Mad for the last 2 or 3 seasons.

Still, Coppell would only be able to "raid" players we were reasonably happy to see go, like Cisse or Matejovsky. Bristol are unlikely to be able to throw around several million pounds on one player, so there is no danger for our best players.

I'd say there might be a good chance of getting them to pay for Long, but sadly probably not enough to make it worth our while.

Don't think Bristol City will be much of a threat this season if im honest. He's no Doyle, Sidwell, Shorey, Little, convey etc to dominate like last time.
