Possibly the most naturally talented player I've seen in a Reading shirt in my three and a half decades of following the team, but alas not a good fit for the Championship. At 28 and injury prone, we had to take the dosh. I look forward to seeing him do his stuff in the Champions' League next season.

Any fee for marek was good, even if only 250k( random figured) its still a bonus rather than having him sit on 15k a week wages for another season, not playing and then leaving on a free.

He never delivered consistently enough and never really got a full run in the team which IMO contributed greatly to that.

Hopefully this will go some way into aiding this 4 million cutback we have to make. Maybe we can make a serious push for the ZAB JAB from blackburn now.

Royal Lady  Well I liked him and I don't think he was ever given a proper chance under Rodgers and certainly not under McD. I'll miss him even if you lot won't.

Agreed. Last season was make or break but he barely got a look in. Shame in my view.

Shame he never really got going, had all the skill to be an amazing player just never fitted with our system. Anyway, money for Griff and Zurab, so I'm happy.

Hopefully Madejski will allow the money from this sale to be available for transfers. Not a chance though

I reckon we've got at least £500k for him so that could be spent on Zurab?

I thought I would be happier to see him go, as I thought he was our worst player ever under Coppell.

But when he did get a go in a sympathetically organised side under Rodgers (and in the Burnley game), I really enjoyed some of his performances. Lets have no rose-tinted glasses though. Even at his best he still set up more goals for the opposition than he did our own strikers, and if another player so much as scowled at him he would lose the ball.

Did we really get a fee for him? That is a genius piece of work.

About £650k that equates to......is that a random figure or one quoted in the Czech press?

Pros: Cash received from this transfer may allow the team to buy players/clear the debts
Cons: I am rather sad to see him go unlike some of the people here. Did not really get to prove himself last season as he had a stomach problem and I personally would love to see McDermott work his magic on him.

Goodbye Marek! Despite your inconsistency, I will always remember you as a great passer.

+1, I even have a Marek replica. Now it doesn't hurt quite as bad that the name and number is starting to peel off.

Feck me Seahawk you really are into that course if you have acquired a replica Marek - does he put in three sublime passes each game then foul every fecker he can until he gets a yellow card?

Good news. Not right for us, certainly at this level. Wish him good luck though. Had high hopes.
