Scarface There's only one Chris Johnson

top lad

Undoubtedly Reading's favourite Fan's Verdict contributor. (Closely followed by M Pitman, obviously)

Hi everybody!

Is Chris Johnson the bloke who looks like a Pit Bull and played (Now coaches?) Tilehurst UTD or The Spread Eagle or some such Sunday league team? Innit?

He's the one who asks a highly detailed question at every fans forum, usually explaining to the manager of the day exactly where he is going wrong in terms of tactics / selection. The relevant manager usually thanks Chris kindly for his insightful views and promises to get things sorted.

Le Mesmer was no stranger to doing a fans verdict, in fact at one stage i had my suspicions that he was hanging out the back of Baskerville's balloon knot

He also made some suggestion that Alex Pearce should play on the left of the centre back pairing and the manager pointed out that Pearce did indeed play on the left....

He's very lucky to be allowed anywhere near the Mad Stad. I can tell you that for free.

Isn't Chris Johnson a Liverpool fan anyway?

You should watch your step sonny, i have taken out a gagging order regarding the said allegations.

But, for your information, my last fans verdict for The Hound was outside Roker Park, during which i was called a "Fcking Cockney Twat" by one of the ill informed locals.

You clearly aren't a Cockney

Second team. He even took it to ridiculous levels in the late 80s when he had a season ticket on the Kop and went to Reading home games and Liverpool home games alternate weeks. Saw some good football at that time (at least once a fortnight anyway).

Not condoning violent behaviour but he is responsible for THE best comedy moment in the Rendezvous. After the Port Vale, 3-0 up - drew 3-3 game, at Easter of the 93/94 season, remember it as if it was yesterday.

The memory sadly might reduce Ray to a different sort of tears.

Come on then, full story please for those of us who weren't there (The Rendezvous that is, I was at the match in question. The Rendezvous always seemed a bit cliquey to me).

I don't suppose it matters as enough water has gone under the bridge and I hardly thought it was widely known!!

Basically I'd been watching the game with Mr Johnson on the South Bank and after we had thrown away the 3-o lead Chris basically went into a deep sulk. At the time there was a small group of us (including Chris) that would go home and away to near enough every game and we had seen Chris is in a mood loads of times before but if you know Chris at all you would know he is normally pretty hard to shut up. Not after this game though he wasn't saying a word.

I've got to also add that while Chris may look the part he couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag and he just isn't like that anyway.

Well, we went into the rendezvous after the game as usual for a beer, and I remember going to the bar leaving Chris and the others sat around a table. As I left to go to the bar I remember Chris muttering something about Ray as he walked in to the Rendevzous smiling and joking with someone (yeah I know), along the lines of at least he found "it" funny and how can you can you be laughing after watching that...

Next thing I remember is Chris getting up and just giving Ray an upper cut sending him crashing to the floor and a load of screaming and shouting. Chris then just bolted for the door and left me to drink his pint. I caught up with him later in town and he said he just snapped seeing Ray laughing and joking.

Being exiled I haven't seen Chris for a couple of years at least now, but I imagine he is still making someone near him in the East Stand's life a misery!!

Remember once in the Jazz before a game, early 06, Manchester derby was on, City went 2-0 up and I actually said "yes!". Johnson turned around and had a go at me for celebrating another team's goal. I'd seen him plenty of times before but that one moment he struck me as actually more of a c*nt than I'd imagined.

Also remember his question at the fans forum just into the 08/09 season. His "question" (it was more of a rant actually) actually got Coppell visibly riled. Now I'm all for asking difficult questions in that kind of forum, but to rant at the man and impress your own opinion like that is beyond a joke.

it is probably a mystery he hasn't been twatted more times than he has with that sort of behaviour to be fair.

I think it runs in the family: I used to play cricket with his brother - nice bloke, good bowler, but made Marvin the Paranoid Android look like Orphan Annie.

Ray Ilsley - a man who must have been born with a grimace on his face. Can still remember "there's woman and children on board" whenever anyone spoke with a raised voice on the supporters coaches in the early nineties...
