It might not have been the best of games but ive seen a damn site worse in the last 35 years!
And if youve paid out £500 for the season and not been bothered to wait an extra 2 mins to see an end like that
then youre the Oxf*rd

people do leave their seat but don`t leave the ground. you see there are actually TVs in the concourse to watch the remaining few minutes, then they can make a quick getaway at the final whistle

andrew1957 I think the abuse that Blackman got is very unfair. He might not be the greatest but he tries hard and that is worth a lot in my book and he might yet get better. Anyone booing him off is a disgrace.

However, I have to say that I do find it odd that he starts on the right over McCleary - who does look to have a fair bit more about him.

I agree, but it wasn't that much, Kenny on the other hand got loads of abuse.

Very funny that but you cant knock the Leeds fans, football wise they have a great following, and a bit of old school class about them there were a group of Leeds fans being laughed at by some of our pretty boys, the leeds fans just looked at them walked a bit faster not run walk mind you and they run away like greyhounds funny as fcuk that was, not many teams will out sing them and very few have a following

Who cares. If you wanted to ban everyone that left early the club would lose a hell of a lot of revenue. The club certainly would not want to lose them. People arrive late,go into the concourse five minutes before/after half time and leave five minutes early. Two guys in my row did just this so missed about twenty minutes of the game. I think it is daft that you pay the money, plan the evening, travel to and from the ground totaling at least 3 hours and then fart about in the concourse for twenty minutes during the match. It is hardly something unique to Reading.Happens at all clubs. Even Leeds.

melonhead

its the same with blackman/akpan - people h8 them because they see them as lower division signings from a particluarly poor period in our history.
consequently they have to do alot more than guthrie in order to get the same score as him.
just the way it is

I agree.

It seems fashionable to like Guthrie as he was the bad boy turned good and came from the Prem. Much like it's fashionable to say Drenthe is amazing, because he used to play for Real but in reality he's a freebie from a Russian side where they probably play with bare feet in the snow I imagine.

Poor old Akpan and Blackman have no chance of being accepted as League One signings and even Kebe, a second tier (I think?) was disliked at first till we realised he's actually good. Pog was liked at first just because he scored for Fulham a couple of times but now we know he was not great.

I reckon as fans we may initially be kinder to: academy players > higher league players > expensive players > lower league players.

Of course this is probably being selective... and I'm sure there are arguments the other way round. Chances are we're cnuts to anyone if we can be.

Akpan came in and was loved after his skillz assists vs. Newcastle & Chelsea. But I agree in general.

SCIAG Surely people should have learned by now not to leave early?

I left early for the second time ever in my life.

I'm a total idiot for it as no matter how bad a match is I generally stay till all players off pitch. Feel like sh*t but it's my own fault. I won't be doing it again and I'm glad for othes who didn't stupidly leave!

You were in good company . It looked like at least 6-7000 had gone by the time the goal was scored. Seemed a bit surreal with the remaining lot celebrating wildly in a half empty stadium.

I have an ST but didn't go at all last night because of work...not really I couldn't be arsed is the truth! I console myself in the knowledge that I would have been at the HP car park when we scored.

Big win.

Irvinchangeyaname We've enjoyed a lot of late goals in recent years but that has to be my favourite.

3000 Leeds fans singing 'time to go' just one minute earlier followed by 300 singing it right back at them as they resorted to the standard outside / throat-cutting gestures!

says it all really only 300 singing it back at home

That Reading only have 300 mongs compared to Leeds' 3000?

Can you define mong for me CC?

AKPAN

This is a young man who probably didn't expect to get on at all. Then, suddenly, after a few minutes, no warm up, he has to go on to replace a first-choice midfielder.

Now add in that it's a big game (McDermott' s Return)

I think he did very well

Agreed. The only thing that let Akpan down was his confidence. At that will come with a run of games now!

I'm not sure he'll get them tho - listening to Adkins, he didnt think much of Akpan's performance, it sounded like he was saying "Akpan had his chance":

"I thought Pearcey was superb on the football tonight. People said he couldn't pass the ball - he can. He can defend as well, there's no question about that. And Stephen Kelly came in and played right back for the first time this season, he had a good game. It's about utilising the squad, for example Hope Akpan got an opportunity when Jem went off"
