Joking aside, when Bolton binned Freedman off I was disappointed they chose Lennon because I'd have fancied him at Reading. He's got that air of n@sty bastard about him, a bit of ruthlessness.

Must have been about 20 years ago. He came very close to signing for us. Was apparently booked into the Ramada (?) Hotel - the one behind the Hexagon and talks were ongoing before Gradi intervened and persuaded him he could do better. Shortly after, he was transferred to Leicester City. Gradi was probably right.
