As a person in a role which involves putting together a list of demands and meeting requests and requirements of the players, I'd imagine you develop quite a strong bond and understanding with people in the squad.

Maybe that familiarity and closeness was something that needed changing as we move forward under a new régime - break up a clique, temper diva attitudes that might have been pandered to, move things from a casual, informal atmosphere to something a bit more professional.

Or maybe he was on too much money and it was an area where savings could be made.

Whatever it is, there is more to being a kitman than just putting on a load.

Or maybe the kitman wasn't one of Clarke's decisions and he was off when his contract expired as he had a new job anyway?

Just saying.

Then he would have said that rather than spend 5 minutes excusing his decision as "difficult" and with the aim of "freshening things up".

We might as well forget about next season if they haven't replaced the soft tissue man by now.

A gold star would have been awarded for the notice but no need for expletives stopped this award.

Clarke signs someone he probably knows from his time at Chelsea, and could play in goal if needed?

Ok ok Pringle would have been good though, one day I will get something right and I'm sure I will be just as happy as you are.

Four new members of staff. http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article ... 07968.aspx

However I note, with some sadness, that the role of soft tissue man seems to have been made obsolete.

Steve Clarke Stewart Bannister and I go back to my days as youth team coach at Chelsea FC many years ago. He is an honest and conscientious worker who will put his own stamp on the kit man’s job which, whilst under-rated, is a very important part of the day-to-day running of a football club.

Don't forget how long posting stuff on eBay takes.

And ironing the names on the shirts must be tricky. Imagine spelling someone's name wrong.....
