Delboy Was Beric a smokescreen were we after Vydra all the time ?

In the same way Ed Miliband was a smokescreen for Jeremy Corbin?. I like your thinking.

Although on reflection I'm not sure what a Slovenian, playing in the Austrian League and about to sign for a team in France has to do with Watford's transfer policy.

I've changed my mind, I don't like your thinking

URZZZZZ Reports suggest that Reading have agreed to pay Watford £10m should they gain promotion this season.

The fee is all part of the deal they have struck to bring striker Matej Vydra to Madejski Stadium.

Royals have initially paid £2.5m up front to land the frontman on loan for the season and they will also cover his wages.

But should they secure promotion to the Premier League, the Czech international will join on a permanent basis for £10m.

If we go up that (10M buy clause) will be good business for both clubs. Watford make a good profit and we have a good striker.

Is that 10m on top of the loan fee?

£10m is peanuts for a player of his calibre "in today's market".

ScepticalRoyal What a signing! This has now 100% been the best transfer window I can remember. Guaranteed goals in the Champ with Vydra and if Hec goes I'd like another CB but even if that doesn't happen i'll be over the moon. URZ!

I recall other sayign somethign similar when we signed Pog, Williams and Drenthe a couple of years back - and look how THAT turned out!

Frankly Clarke is behaving like a spoilt kid in a toy shop just having been given some money from a rich uncle.

"I want that one .. and that one ... and one of those .... can I have another one of these please? PLEASE!?. No? Well what if I sell one my other toys ythat I've grown bored with, THEN can I have that nice new shiny one?"

Clarke is seriously pissing me off spunking up £3.5M on a loanee for 1 season, and funding it by flogging one of our future stars. Clarke is totally and utterly out of his depth.

Lol a) if you think it was Steve Clarke who was involved in negotiating the finer financial details
b) at comparing this to the Anton era

Fantastic signing. Proven goals at this level, pace, ability, and age on his side.

I honestly cannot for the life of me understand any negativity about this transfer, but hey, I suppose that's just the way football fans like to work.

And for those saying they'd have preferred Beric, a guy with absolutely no track record at scoring goals in a level close to ours, over Vydra...you are all complete morons.

Good stuff Nick, Nige, Steve, and the Thais. Brilliant window.

£2.5m Loan fee. We saved £3m from offloading Pog. And that is nothing if we get promoted.

If we decapitate him will we increase the chances of his headed goals by 100%?

Or is that just a myth?

An absolutely superb signing and a show of real intent by the club. Always rated him during his partnership with Deeney. A quick, two-footed deadly finisher with pedigree: an ideal foil for Sa and with Hurtado and John our options up front are now - suddenly - terrifying.

I do not think any other Championship team had a better window than us.

I like the way in this Vydra vid it seems that all the goals are against us. At least someone else will be on the end of it now.

What? We've signed Deeney?

In for the Promotion Part......... oh!

I'm joshing of course Mr Ark Royal. With 3 players who've proved absolutely nothing at this level, 2 of whom haven't kicked a ball in the league, law of averages says at least one of them will be an instant hit. Maybe.

They will won't they?

In all seriousness , this time honestly, loan or no loan Vydra has the potential to be far too good for this division. The last time we signed a forward like this, it was the little cheeky chap with the sweeties from Bristol. Although he cost 250k and we still got to keep him after a year.

Fcuking hell, what happening to everyone??

Vydra has proven himself a good Championship striker but has proven nothing in the Prem. If an absolute miracle happens and we go up, spending 10m on this guy would be fcuking madness
