double d OR MAYBE
The standard of the league back then was absolutely piss poor bollocks to what it is now? How many teams are even still in the championship from back then and how many higher or lower?

7 (Burnley, Watford, Southampton, Leicester, Crystal Palace, Hull, Stoke) all currently PL
6 (Coventry, Luton, Sheffield Utd, Argyle, Crewe, Milwall) lower divisions
12 championship
think that makes it better rather than worse. No?
Silver Fox There were 25 teams in the championship that year?

Silver Fox There were 25 teams in the championship that year? No wonder people find it so hard to beat 106 these days
double d Don't know. Arguably 3 of those PL teams could be in the Champ next season.
double d It's probably worse then than it is now, it is a harder league now. But I don't know

From Despair To Where? I don't think it is a stronger league this season. The Top 6 in 2006 was stronger, the bottom 6 were stronger and the middle 12 were much of a muchness in comparison to this season. Also, if you look at the teams likely to swap places at the top and the bottom this season, next season is going to be a much bigger challenge.

From Despair To Where? Was it Ian Holloway who said of the 106 team something along the lines of "we scouted them and the scout came back and said they have no weaknesses. That's never happened before. I said so how do we beat them and he said with a hell of a lot of luck"

Davezk People always overestimate the strength of the league. What have Villa done this season for example? (Aside from beat us)

Surely that implies the overall strength of the league is better as a team with their qualities aren't pulling up any trees?
