I heard it first on the Andrew Peach show. They were pretty pleased with themselves but a little disappointed that there wasn't much reaction yet on Hobnob.

Well done to both sides for responding to the needs of Reading Football Club fans right across Berkshire (and beyond) and well done too to the members of HNA? (particularly "Andyhalls" and "thefruits" for the petition) STAR and the Evening Post for highlighting the depth of feeling on the issue.

A victory for common sense and time for giving ourselves some hearty back-slapping.

Indeed, and incase anybody missed the thread on Club Policies about it....

Warfield Royal I heard John Madejski interviewed on BBC Radio Berks and he said the change of decision had nothing to do fan power and that the original announcement was just his way of negotiating. If this is true then I think that John Madejski has lost a lot of credibility.

Reading FC chairman John Madejski commented, "I am very pleased that we have finally been able to reach an agreement that will allow BBC Radio Berkshire to continue providing live commentary next season.

"They have been strong supporters of the Club for a number of years............' ......and I'd like to thank the thousands of supporters who reminded me of that.

Actually he didn't say that last part at all. As it turns out, this whole storm in a tea cup was just part of the negotiating tactics!

I also heard them. Not suprised to hear that they are pleased with themselves, quite rightly so! Think hobnob, the evening post and STAR deserve a pat on the back too.

Funny now to hear they are calling themselves "BBC Radio Berkshire, where the fans have their say"

Well done everyone.

Forget the Three Degrees, we have the Three Berks: Joel Hufford, Tim Dellor and Mick Gooding :D I'm glad we will be hearing your voices live from every match this season.

BBC Radio Berks is the fans choice. I'm delighted the football club backed down, just a little disappointed in John Madejski's comments regarding the reason for change of heart!
Great news.

And I quote 'Lovely Stuff' Not just my words but the words of thousands of Reading supporters who will be delighted with this news.

Well done all for overturning the ludicrous original decisions.

Welcome back Tim and Joel. 8)

As mentioned by me earlier in the thread, it was obvious this was a bargaining tool to get BBCRB to pay more money. Mr Madejski is a very astute business man, I can't see how this is a victory for anyone other than him

Well Done To Radio Berks And The Fans

by windjammer » 01 Aug 2006 10:30

Well done to Andrew Hall for starting the petition and to "the fruits " for getting it on Hob Nob and to every one who signed the petition, wrote to the Club, the Post etc. Despite JM's quote on Radio Berks this morning, which I haven't heard yet, that it was a not the fan's backlash but his negotiating position that brought about the change we all know the truth. Yet again his comments sound rather arrogant and only belittle him. Without the fans John there wouldn't be a Reading FC. In a season or three when we are are probably back on the Championship, ( this is not pessimism, it is hard to go up for the first time and stay up for a long time), you will need the true fans again and a radio station that is genuinely interested and not just chasing the glory.

It could have been a defeat all round, Tim and Joel on the dole, Fans without coverage, RFC receiving less cash and Tredder with nobody to text.
