Mind boggling stuff from SSC again.

Like when he sold our only fit right winger in exchange for a reserve right back. Which has been semi vindicated now I suppose. Apart from us being in the bottom three and all.

Dirk Gently
Let's just cut all the crap about attitudes, anti-player bias, favourites, etc.

How about if SC has decided that two of his strikers Kits & Lita can't play together for whatever reason?
.....

WHAT!!! Kitson and Lita have fallen out . I knew it. You can tell they don't get on. On the team photo they're both avoiding eye contact with each other and looking staright ahead.

I'm not sure you should be spreading this sort of gossip on the Team Board though Dirk. Shame on you.

 Whover said anything about a fall out? I was talking about their styles of play and the way they fit in the team.

Never a dull moment around here is there?

I'm not even going to try to understand what's going on....pointless.

I do however look forward to seeing John Halls drafted in as an emergency striker by the end of the season

SpaceCruiser

SpaceCruiser Lita last scored on the 28th August, against Swansea in the League Cup.

in the league?

Before that, he'd scored a goal against Man Utd in the FA Cup replay on the 27th Feb 2007 and before that was his two goals against Man City on the 3rd February 2007. How many games has he played since those goals, I wonder?

more than long who has scored two in that time

im not arguing about how good he is, i like the bloke, and think he should have started on saturday
clearly im not privy to what the feck has been going on though

I cannot believe this news.

Terrible terrible decision.

I can't see us retaining the reserve league title now.

Don't talk nonsense - James Harper's going to be made an out an out striker! Afterall, he's in better goalscoring form than some of the specialists we've left ourselves with!

It is true Dirk's confirmed it. I know Lita can be a handful but even i can't believe he'd do that to Kitson's pet hamster. Kits loved that little critter.

Certainly best for all concerned that he's moved out.

Baines
cmonurz I am completely prepared to reverse my opinion if it emerges that Lita has been caught raping Coppell’s pet rabbit.

Disagree. Coppell must put aside personal opinions no matter how much he loved the rabbit.

On another note, this would be a bad decision if all 3 of our other strikers were in form. In the circumstances, it is incomprehensible.

what if he did let him off?

soon all the players would be thinking, hang on a minute if he can do it, so can i and all be having a go on the poor bunny

Agreed.

Nothing to do with his supposed attitude problem; I simply don't rate him as a premiership player. I know this leaves us a little light on strikers, but couldn't we recall him if Kitson, Doyle or Long got injured?

11 pages on and so few seem to grasp the idea that he has gone because he is almost certainly a disruptive influence when not in the team and that is probably more significant than having one less player to choose from.
I am no great fan of Lita or Long,Lita is capable of scoring the odd spectacular goal, can get in the right areas but misses far too many chances at Premiership level. His combination play and defending are poor and he is moderate in the air.
Long is a moderate finisher but is good in the air and is a trier.
Neither of these have a good enough all-round game for Premiership football and I find it hard to believe that Long wasn't loaned out to a Championship club for the whole season for experience and Lita wasn't sold to somebody like Roy Keane who doesn't seem to have much idea in judging a player.

Fans only remember the good goals by Lita like the two away at City but forget those dreadful misses for the U21s and in the games earlier this season v Liverpool(?) and Newcastle so all this about being a natural finisher is an exaggeration.
IMHO he is way behind Kitson and Doyle as all-round strikers and I feel that the it's the lack of chances provided from out wide in particular that has led to the drought and neither Lita nor Long could have done any better based on the same dearth of opportunities.

Lita hasn't signed a new contract and Coppell seems to be treating him like Defoe at Spurs-If you won't commit to the club then we won't commit to you.
The shame is that this was the case before the transfer window closed and we can only assume that Lita's attitude has worsened since then.
BTW I take no notice of anything that Dillon or Downes says-the same Dillon who is certain that we will finish 12th and the same Downes responsible for our dire defence.
So is it better to have a happy squad and a squad reduced in number than a squad containing at least one disruptive influence?
Shame he wasn't sold in January and a fully committed extra striker brought in but was Coppell actually too soft and over-loyal at the time?

North Stand, B18 I appreciate what SC has done for this club but some of his decisioins really piss me off. This loan move is just another very strange moment in SCs reign as the manager of this club. How you can loan out an ex -England U21 international who was by far England's best player at the European Championships last summer to a championship side really beats me. SC seems to have a real problem with Lita and it is affecting his judgement as a manager. It's not as though no other Premiership footballers have ever made a sex tape for oxf*rd's sake! Are Micah Richards, Rio ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Keiron Dyer all being discriminated against because of mistakes in their past. Lita should definately be in the first team as none of our other options have any idea where the goal is! If SC cannot get over his extreme hatdre of Lita he should just oxf*rd off and give up football management!

On another note this is my first post on this forum so I am waiting for the 'oxf*rd off Newbie!' shit that is coming my way!

Newbie,
I would dispute that bit about Lita being England's best player in the U21 tournament.
IIRC he was often a sub in the qualifying stages and don't forget one of the most horrendous misses of all time.
A good Championship player (like Nugent) who is a bit short of Premiership ability.

I really can't be @rsed to read all 11 pages, but suffice to say, I can't believe we've left ourselves so light in terms of strikers and I hope I'm proved wrong, but I think this is a very wrong decision. I doubt Lita will come back, if he wasn't wanted in the team up til now, I doubt Copps is going to be wanting to play him in a month, two months or next season. Bye Bye Leroy....

Joking aside, I can see us playing one lone striker for away games, with Matejovsky supporting, a 4-4-1-1 if you like.
