Most clubs accounts are available and they do show the figures for payroll, but are obviously not available for the current financial year.

I've no doubt they can estimate other clubs expenditure, as you can in most other industries, but I still don't think anyone would be that ITK on all clubs current wage bills.

As I said before though, I doubt the differences with the middle band of payers are that great anyway.

Hoop Blah Agree on those last posts above, we'll be in that middle band, where I guess there won't be much of a difference to be honest.

10th just sounded like too accurate a statement to be making to be true.

I heard Paul Merson describe us as 'an average, average Championship side' so I guess this just about proves it.

I would be delighted to be an average Championship side right now!

RoyalBlue Unless all the clubs are truthfully declaring their wage bills to some independent body like the FA, I'm not sure how ITK someone could be with regards to what all the other clubs in the Championship pay.

Football is a massively incestuous business. Players, managers, agents and everyone else are always talking to each other all the time, and everyone knows what the benchmark for each type of player is at every clubs, as well as the maximum at every club. Plus, of course, they all read each other's accounts when they come out.

So while they might not knew to the exact penny how much other clubs pay on salaries, they certainly know for each other club i the league if they pay more, less or about the same to a surprising degree of accuracy.

And the club is up for sale at a reported £30m. I know it's difficult to make comparisons but what value, realistically, for Reading FC?

As much as anyone is prepared to pay for it - but realistically probably between £50M - 60M.

On the BBC it says Plymouth v Barnsley has been called off because of a waterlogged pitch. :|

I dont know if this is a good thing or not. A fixture backlog for the janners may actually help us. Just as long as we dont get too far behind with fixtures.

If that is true that is a real result for us as I could see us going in to the next home game 5 points adrift and then the nerves really start to kick in....bound to get to the squad..we must keep in touch

West Stand Flash Sheffield Wednesday appoint a new manager, win 2 in 2. They are now out of the bottom 3.
Reading don't appoint a manager, employ a Scout, hasn't won a league game in 5 and has guided us to bottom 3.

Well done Mr Madejski, Nigel Howe and Gimp Hammond!!
