We failed to score from open play last night and we just didn't look like scoring. We created and broke away at times but just could not score and a few times the ball rolled across the face of goal but no one was there! We seem to be losing that clinical finishing a bit.

No chance we will get 7 wins from our remaining games. Much more likely to lose all our remaining games this month. Although our next three games we will max out at 3 points.

We are going to face some even tougher games now. Even a 7th finish is wishful thinking!!!

Oh woe is me, only 14 goals in the last 5 games!

Though it would be super smashing to play pretty one touch passing and walk the ball in the net even Arsenal cannot so this all the time.

A win is a win no matter how fortunate. We've conceeded enough of those to know when we need the luck to scrape a win.

*remembers to spellcheck.

LOL some people are never happy. I'd have ripped your arm off for a top half finish in Aug last yr what with all the changes, let alone after Xmas when we were right in the 5h1t.

If we get 3 wins from the next 4 however then it's on like donkey kong.

Yes, but look at the opposition during those games. It shows we've improved yes and that we can make midtable...!

Whys that then. We matched West Brom twice in the Cup and beat Doncaster(currently 8th) away from home.
Lets see how they get on over the next few games before making such comments.

I would agree with you entirely madstad. Delighted that we've won the games we could or should have won in order to stay up. If we did keep the winning run going however, things could look very interesting by the end of the month.

I don't think we will but like I said 3 from 4 would really start to make me think "hang on a sec - we've got a chance"

If we win three of our next four we are in with one hell of a chance.

How can you say we didn't look like scoring?
I can remember 2 amazing goal line clearances in the second half, particularly the one from McAnuff. 9 times out of 10 that would have gone in and there were others too.

I think we're also ignoring how well we've been playing recently. It's not just been about the results as we've been playing some great football. The tactics, I think, have been spot on too. The play offs might be too much of an ask, but I also think we're in danger of putting ourselves down far too easily. 8 out of 9 is f*cking incredible and I've been loving it. Have some faith! Come on Urz!

I say that as at times we failed to convert some chances. Ok, yes, we had the goal line clearances. We were up against a tough defence, and we will come up against some more strong defences yet. We will need to take as many chances as possible in the up coming games.

We won't come up against many teams as cynically physical as Warnocks who spend an entire 45 means defending their own goal with little interest in scoring.

Villa had a tough defence. Put two past them though.

Palace went up via the POs after being in danger of relegation.... and that all ended happily.

Ideal
NR_Royal Quote from QPR forum:

"Hate to say it, but they have a stronger looking squad than us, and have underperformed this season. They would be in the play-offs at least if it wasn't for Rodgers."

And anyone who says otherwise is a moron!!!

We still look a long way off the top six... Where would we be, right now if the results of the games in hand were done?

A lot of very big "IFs" but if we win our two games in hand (H Newcastle, A Scunthorpe)
we would be seventh, two points behind Cardiff. We would probably need to win there
but would almost certainly have to avoid defeat. A win at Cardiff and we'd overtake them
but they'd have a game in hand on us.

If we only get four points from the two games in hand we would need to win in Cardiff unless they implode

BUT IF we lose at Boro we make things tough for ourselves. I think we have to get a point there.

Win at Boro we can afford to lose at Leicester.

But it looks at best a 100-1 chance. We need to beat Scunny away, at least draw with Newcastle,
get three points from Middlesboro, or draw at Boro and beat Leicester away, and then (probably)
have to beat WBA who will be out for revenge. Even getting two draws away next two games
is probably not enough. I'm an optimist but I wouldn't take this bet unless I could get at least 80-1

Wouldn't it be 53 if we won the two games in hand?

Same position though!

I can't trawl through 11 pages, but has anyone made the point that it would be madness for us to try to get up this year? Sixth would be a triumph after our miserable start, but losing in the play-offs should suit us. As the form team on a roll we could have a shout at winning the play-offs, but what then? disaster in the Prem surely? Too soon, I say. Let's finish a nice seventh, strengthen in the summer and give it a good crack next year.

I'm not so sure....

I think we should go up (if we get to that position!), take the gold coins but not stretch ourselves and take the inevitable drop but going down fighting and then use the gold coins to strengthen the team for 2011/12 to go back up with a bit of style and a better chance of hanging around for longer.
