Royals and Racers Another fixture announced Sunday December 15th home to Wycombe Wanderers KO 2pm

1st league points of the season ?? Doubt it. Pretty sure only teams in the division we can beat are Badshot Lea and Selsey.

Absolute train wreck. They/the setup seems far worse than the little Sunday league teams that our daughter started off playing for. They used to get a lot of players out 'injured' on the weekend(s) running up to Christmas too.

Dai & Pang have absolutely destroyed years of really hard work and some incredible achievements, punching well above their weight, by some very dedicated staff and players. It's both a tragedy and a crime.

I believe Howe may have blood on his hands over this too as I'm led to understand that he was never really supportive of having a women's set up at the club. Therefore wouldn't surprise me at all if he was one of those pushing for the plug to be pulled when our troubles with Dai began.

A women’s team is always likely to get “dropped” and/or suffer severe cost cutting if a football club gets into the sort of cr@p that Dai dropped Reading into. Sadly his total mismanagement means Reading need every penny possible and I think many would prefer it was the ladies team that suffered rather than losing the Academy any earlier than absolutely necessary, as it’s that which has basically been keeping the club going over the last couple of seasons.

I understand that, even if I don't necessarily accept that approach. However, it does not explain why the club refused to allow the women's section to be sold off/supported separately when apparently there was someone interested in taking them over. If the club/owner are only able to see women's football as a cost with zero value, then IMO they should have let someone takeover who can also see the value.

Absolutely agree on that too, it’s not as if the ladies even carried on playing in Reading, let alone use club facilities!

Royals go into the Christmas break now and the New Year will not bring any respite as the 1st match back on Sunday 5th Jan is away to league leaders Ascot Utd KO 2pm.
As i have said previously Royals season will be defined by the 2 matches each against fellow strugglers Selsey and Badshot Lea. Both teams results today were
Selsey 0 Ascot Utd 4
Sholing 5 Badshot Lea 0
Selsey and Badshot lea have only got points from 2 draws in the 2 matches played against each other.
Bottom 3
8th Selsey P 10 points 2 GD — 24
9th Badshot Lea P 11 points 2 GD — 27
10th Reading P 6 points 0 GD — 21

Disappointing, but I imagine at this level it could simply due to not having the time to commit to playing football alongside a normal job.

Disappointing. On the one occasion I saw them play in the Autumn she was comfortably the best player

There was also a missed Ascot penalty (given by the referee who didn't leave the centre-circle the entire game), and another good performance by Cherry in goal, could easily have been double-figures without her. Reading were right in it at half-time. but once the second goal went in, Ascot just went through the gears.

As said above, the season isn't judged on games against the league-leaders, it'll be the games against Badshot Lea and Selsey, neither of whom played yesterday. The worry is that we've conceded nearly as many goals as either of them despite having played three games less (and again, without Preisner in goal, it could be a lot more already). Scoring, at least in league games, also is worrying, though we did create chances yesterday.

And first post! :D
