Snowball Say we agree on this.

WHY DOESN'T McDERMOTT DO IT?

You think you or I know more about football?
Kitson12 I didn't realise this was a competition? I have my opinions, you have yours, sometimes I'm not right, sometimes I am, sometimes you're right and sometimes you're not, you need to accept when you're not and not go lauding it up when you are.

Sorry I meant "You think you or I know more about football than McDermott?"

Oh, then no. I don't think either of us know more about football than McDermott.

Snowball Oh, I see. A man who played at the top-level for a decade or more, played in the semi-finals of the Champions League,
played for his country God knows how many times is now being accused of not having a football brain? Do me a favour

PLAYED, he doesn't anymore, and he's clearly not good enough, otherwise why would he have been playing at Carlisle United?
On this one Snowball you seem to be the only one who doesn't see it. Harte was MARKING Routlegde, therefore he is responsible, not Mills, not Ivar, Harte. End of story.
Harte was outpaced, and is a liability, bring in Armstrong.

The same logic says he was too good for Carlisle United cos he's now playing for a top half Championship side

And McDermott keeps picking Harte.

But I don't think he should, doesn't mean I'm right, just what I, and a lot of others on this forum, think.

Snowball
LoyalRoyalFan Armstrong v Bristol City - Armstrong dealt very well with the quick City wingers, 4-1 win.

Every winger Harte comes up against he struggles. No stats can prove against it.

If my memory serves me right Armstrong was run ragged for at least the first half hour.

Ian Harte has been run ragged for nearly every game this season.

Armstrong plays at left back and we win 4-1.

Harte plays and struggles against any quick winger.

Snowball, even when Harte was playing in the Champions League and at the top of his game he was widely acknowledged as being slow and a relatively poor defender. His strength was getting forward and his set piece delivery. Little has changed really, although personally I don't rate his deadball delivery for us.

The most interesting thing with Harte is that at Carlisle he played centre half, presumably because their manager felt he was no longer suited to playing fullback.

I think he improved on what we had at leftback, but he still has significant weaknesses that the opposition have exploited on many occasions.

Look. I don't know as much about football as McDermott. BUT I am allowed to have my opinion, as is everyone else, so why don't you stop putting my opinion, and the opinions of most of the people on this forum down, and concede that actually Harte should be dropped, McDermott might take that punt, he might not. What matters is that it's an opinion (actually a fact) shared by many on here, and you have no right to put that down, unless you can bring categoric evidence to the fore that Harte is not a liability, and should not be dropped.

How on earth is Mills still in that team after that performance? Hoofed everything, couldn't control his temper and completely took out that player to earn a yellow card. Why Zurab is not being considered is beyond me, at least he gets it on the ground and passes it out.

Putting Ian Harte on Routledge was a bit stupid as well!

Also, what does Simon Church contribute? Manset did more in 20 min than he has done in the last 5 matches!

That's fair for all four matches except Cardiff, where Church was pretty awesome. Ok, Manset scored, but Church was still brilliant.

I-DO-NOT-THINK-HARTE-SHOULD-BE-DROPPED.

I don't have to put forward ANY evidence, except one teensy-weensy piece.

THE-MANAGER-PICKS-HARTE. I BELIEVE IN THE MANAGER

Do I wish we had a young, fit, fast full-back who attacks for fun
can get back without breaking sweat, never misses a tackle, scares
wingers off their game, scores 8 thunderbolts a season and has
ten assists? Sure. But meanwhile, I go with the manager.

Well, then how come you're the ONLY one who doesn't think Harte should be dropped?

Crucially (as I'm loathed to defend the bloke) he's not the only person who thinks Harte should be dropped as our manager thinks otherwise.

Personally I'd give Armstrong a run but I've got a niggling suspicion he might be having injury problems again :(

I would take being in a minority of two (the other one being a very successful manager)
any day of the week.

And I have seen so much idiocy on this board, about Long, Kebe, Bikey, Elwood
to know that if my opinion was the same as majority the vociferous scapegoaters
I would most certainly be an idiot.

From my limited exposure to watching Reading this season, Harte is not that good. He struggles to support Jobi in attack which, when playing with natural width is a necessity. He reminds me too much of Paul Bodin.
