Royal Ginger On the plus side, Saints, Wigan and Villa all lost too. Don't see Norwich getting past Arsenal.

I think we showed encouraging signs in the second half, only we couldn't take our chances. We passed the ball much better, and when Robert's came on it made a huge difference. He held the ball up well and brought others into play. I'd start him next game.

Our defence wasn't as bad as some are saying IMO. We were well organised and we were playing against one of the magicians of the Prem, Suarez. He will create chances against anyone, even if he is a pcunt.

We need to improve our free kicks, as Maguire says. Our poor deliveries were the most dissapointing aspect of our play for me. I think we're getting there.

The Liverpool crowd appealing every time Suarez fell over were embarrassing. Luckilly the referee wasn't having it.

Fulham at home next. I think we will get our first win in that one.

I really don't see how we will win a game ever again...

No. Not really. But that is how I feel going into each game right now. :(

Agreed, our defence aren't that bad but our midfield cannot compete in this league, hence no real protection for the defence and not a lot of service for the forwards.

How long before desperation means we chuck Lawson D'Ath on in midfield, just to see what happens. I'm up for that.

Royal Ginger The second half only looked better because Liverpool were clearly told to sit back a bit and absorb some pressure. Apart from McCleary's 1-on-1, our goal threat was only ever tepid at best.

agreed, powder puff is how i would describe us at the mo. at least we were in the game till the end i guess, against the a fantastic and mighty liverpool (i say that in jest as its prob their worst ever side)

RobRoyal Much better second half, signs of hope i'd say. Still look significantly lacking in individual quality, mind.

At last a ray of sunshine in this sea of gloom +1

Delusion. We were sh*t first half, average second half. Being average won't save us this season. Ineffective down the wings, a lethargic center forward and a passenger in center midfield. Jem could be out for a few weeks with what looks to be ligament damage meaning we're stuck with Leigertwood and Tabb/Guthrie.

Signs of hope?

No delusion. We are getting closer game by game and Brian is learning his best team. We could easilly have nicked a draw had we taken one of our chances.

We could chuck Steve Death in and it would be an improvement!

I think we are starting with the wrong shape personally. without Hunt on the pitch that direct style doesn't work, Hunt is our only striker who can put himself about enough.

Also Guthrie is not an attacking midfielder and I think would be most effective playing on the half way line with another holding midfielder (we'll go with Leigertwood for now, need to buy more quality here), his primary role being to provide the ball to Mcanuff, Mcleary and Kebe who's job it will be to provide the ball to one of our mobile centre forwards or each other. But basically to take it in turns playing second striker/winger until we can buy someone in who can play that second striker role as their primary function.

And they could easily have smashed us if they took their chances. We were lucky to lose by one.

I have no idea how to assess where we are.

We have been unlucky, but ultimately we are not good enough at holding the ball in the midfield!

I just hope we are in a position to get some players in come January.

Being a yoyo club for a couple seasons is not the end of the world, look where West Brom are at the moment

Not sure why we keep trying to play this 4-5-1 formation, we haven't put together a meaningful attack playing it since the second game of the season.

Really hope Hunt isn't out long but we should have started Roberts today

We're not playing Championship quality at the moment. Not a patch on last year. If we played like this agains Birmingham/Wolves/Blackpool/Brighton the result would have been the same.

Agreed with all of the above. Did Alf even touch the ball when he came on?
