Fact remains, when Pearce and Mariappa played together, our defence was good. When they played together in a 4-5-1, our defence was excellent.

lol @ FACT

our defence was never better than just passable.
none of our defenders were excellent

If you think one goal a game over nine games is merely "passable", then your standards are too high.

thats why broad brush stats like that tell you nothing of any real import.

im talking across the entire season, and using my eyes and my considerable brain to work out how well he is playing

The phrase 'delusions of grandeur' springs to mind.

Tell me, will we get any tribunal decided fee for Pearce bearing in mind his age, the fact he's an Academy boy and has been offered a new deal here

Alex Pearce actually trending on twitter tonight. Mostly with irate scousers delighted that the marque potential signing of Pearce has been hastily arrange to cover over Suarez's "come and get me" plea to anyone who will listen with a large cheque book and a dose of sunshine.

Some delusional scousers wrote on twitter:

Now is not the time for Liverpool to be linked with Alex Pearce. Wait, actually, there's no good time for lfc to be linked with Alex Pearce

I'd rather us play Skrtel, Wisdom or Coates in CB than Alex Pearce. We don't need him.. You know what, I'd stick Sterling in CB over him.

If Alex Pearce is 'instead of' Papadopoulous I will kill a man.

Who the oxf*rd is Alex Pearce?

For everyone saying 'Alex Pearce is shit'. Think. Maybe, just maybe, he's going to be extra cover jyst incase anything happens

Haha oxf*rd Alex Pearce is about as useful as a condom dipped in LSD.

don't get your knickers in a twist about Suarez leaving. Reading Reserve team CB Alex Pearce has joined! CL here we come!

Suarez wants to leave.... And We're in for fkn Alex Pearce...

My favourite bit was where they all tried to look like they had been studying him over the last 2 seasons and had an in depth knowledge of him.

That thread should be held up each time as the perfect example of where people on the Internet just talk utter drivel.

"After Coutinho & Sturridge this can't be Brendan's doing, surely."

Yeah I'm sure he has nothing to do with trying to sign a bloke who used to play for him. Clever bunch these Scousers.

Local rag up there says Liverpool sources deny any interest in Pearce.

A Liverpool fan wrote..

Alex Pearce has the attributes to become an absolute colossus.

He's probably going to be wanted by Real & Barca within 18 months.

We need to tie him down to a long contract with a ridiculous buy out clause.

I'm feeling so positive about next season if we get this guy in.

He's a natural leader, I'd be willing to bet he's our next captain after SG.

Now there's a guy saying he'll provide cover at left back...

As for the post above, pretty sure that's a joke right? At least I think it is...
