2 world wars, 1 world cup To those who think its big and clever to take a conservative spend-nothing-in-the-prem approach, who did QPR buy and how has he done so far please?

Thanks in advance.

TBF they also previously bought a load of other players for big money and QPR are still in relegation spot....

ZacNaloen
Barry the bird boggler I make that ONE off target attempt for Reading in the entire half - utterly unacceptable at any league level

Fail completely to understand how on earth McDermott thinks McAnuff in midfield is a smart move

The referee is a complete and utter joke but even without his efforts Cabaye and Marveau are destroying us single handedly

*yawn*

We averaged about 6 chances a game last season I reckon, yet we won the league.

It's the quality of the chances not the quantity. The chances we've created have been good chances. And we would have a goal if the linesman could keep up with play.

The thing is that attempts on goal create a feeling of pressure for the opposition. We allow too many shots on our goal and, statistically, one of them will eventually go in. If you don't shoot, you cannot score goals.

Yeah but we just don't have that kind of money to spend. You have to remember that all their purchasing power comes from having obscene amounts of money. We don't have that and neither do we have the pulling power of being a big name club. I would be delighted if we pulled off signing like that (as long as it wasn't putting at risk the long term safety of the club) but I won't be expecting it.

Ian Royal I've not really seen McAnuff put in a particularly effective performance in the middle. He's looked alright in brief spells occasionally, but starting?

So where was McAnuff playing against WBA when we went from 0-2 to 3-2 in 8 minutes?

Learn to read all of a post before getting huffy.

Well, I think that the view that we went with a formation and 11 that would leave us a little too open to attacking movement and passing through the middle has been shown fairly accurate. We're missing the energy and workrate of a Tabb / Karacan. Saying that two of Newcastle's chances have come from what looked like awful formation at the back playing them on, and Federici's had a blinder apart from the freekick. We also could have taken a couple of pretty good chances on the counter, but we're still not actually producing a great deal more attacking threat than we did against West Brom in the first half, and I can only assume dropping Karacan to move McAnuff inside was an attempt to make us more dangerous. So far - Fail.

Federici - some blinding saves, stream lagged on their goal so don't know if he could have done better
Kelly - looking alright I think - played Cabaye on by being completely out of position at one point I think.
Harte - no glaring mistakes I've noticed, doing ok.
Pearce - towering in defence
Mariappa - losing out to Cisse a little too much for my liking
Kebe - looks dangerous and could be the one to do the damage, but not quite hit the killer ball / run / shot yet
McCleary - potential as usual, but a bit too hit and miss. Is causing Debuchy some problems
Leigertwood - playing well, one of the picks so far for me. great ball to Kebe early on and he's winning ball and playing it simple, not giving it away as much as previously. Being bypassed a bit though
Guthrie - seems to be crying out for the ball and not getting it as much as he wants. Not noticing a lot of him, but maybe its just his style of play and how deep he is given how much of a smack down I got last week.
McAnuff - trying hard and wasn't offside, but I didn't really have confidence he'd score. Not bad, but I don't think he's really suited to the role
Pog - hard working, one shot and just couldn't quite connect to put it in. linking up mostly ok.

Not sure what we do if we can keep it to 1-0 with 70 gone. Presumably ALF for McAnuff, but it does leave us even more easily run through in the middle.

Very much still in the game. Maybe Marriner will do us a favour after the maybe soft freekick Cabaye scored from and the Ba handball incident at the Mad stad.

Za Vas We're being totally overrun in the middle of the park, need to change something in there.

As we have been all season. We have nothing to throw in. Could change it to 4-4-2 BUT risky. Still only 1-0 give it 20 mins then maybe try.

Agreed its not been great in there, but this is just not working at all. Legs is sat too deep as per, Guthrie hasn't shown up and Jobi, well Jobi just isn't a centre mid. We need Jem back in there for the start of the second half, wouldn't mind seeing Hope have a run out as well.

On the plus side, we do look dangerous on the break, McCleary especially having a good game.

Jobi just isn't centre mid ? ...Jobi just isn't Premier league ...journeyman ...been passed around like pass the parcel from club to club ...

BonBoh worryingly, we are not creating any chances

Sadly this has been the case for how many months now, and we still haven't addressed it. Brian would rather bring a winger into the centre to be more ineffective that usual.

Are they suddenly awarded 8 points for spending lots of money on a striker and being 1-0 up at half time? Because last I looked, they're still in the relegation zone and below us right now.

I'm not sure why I'm getting a load of pre-emptive apologist posts to this simple question.

Is he doing quite well? Has he maybe had several shots n target and caused them problems or something?

Genuinely interested. Thanks.

How the oxf*rd is Andre Mariner allowed to referee both fixtures between two teams in a season?

More to the point why is he allowed to ref any premiership game.

The epitome of incompetence.

Some guys on my site are doing a commentary for the game and taking questions on the forum and twitter if anyone fancies listening to something a bit different. Their first time so we're ignoring any criticism

Actually, they are not behind us on the live scores / if it stays as it is thing.

But, I agree. QPR are still in the poo, and so are we. But I'm seeing improvement. Its a very tough ask to go to St James Park, in this weather. Yes, they've had some poor results, but they are still a tough team. We aren't doing that badly.

20 QPR 22 games 14 points

Our survey says: X
