Fell asleep during at the start of the second half. Been working with pals in Chicago so time zone a bit fecked up

Not having a go, just asking a question in a rational manner.

1st 30 against Saints was some of the best football we've played this season. Likewise large parts of the second half today. We've got a legacy of crapness to shift, but there are positive signs. It's too little too late almost certainly, but plenty to be positive about for next season.

GreaterTorontoRoyal ANOTHER FLARE BY LIVERPOOL!
Two so far
Goal line clearance by Gunter

That wasn't a flare, it was rumble sticks being popped by the stewards

When anton became our owner, he said we would not have to sell our best players. If we tell McCarthy that he will be a starter next season, cant see him pushing for a move, and he is on a good contract. Best young english keeper IMO

They came out in the second half and looked so confident, it wasn't until Morrisons injury that Liverpool really came back into the game

Good point, I forgot about Morro's injury. Although I think the balance shifted slightly before that, because ALF got barely a kick and was on already, maybe only just. But I'd agree the reason we didn't really get going again was because of Morro's injury.

It was refreshing to see them come out after half time with more spring in their step. And for them not to conceed just before or just after the break. It's like they started the match convinced they were shit and would lose, just going through the motions, but when they made it to HT at 0-0 they started to actually believe the positivity Adkins has been selling and came out with a bit of vigour.

we seemed to come under pressure late in the game after Pogs ability to hold up the ball was withdrawn from the game. a little surprised by that substitution to say the least.

There really isn't though. We couldn't put two passes together for the entire first half.

I realise you have your own agenda but try not to just see what you want to see.

Also thought Downing made a big difference for them, and we tired a bit

Not first half, although we've looked worse under McDermott on several occasions. But second half things started to look better. As they did first half against Saints and against Man Utd (as a comparison for another different influence to McDermott).

Well, as it is highly unlikely that we will see a wholesale clear out we must assume that you have written next season off?

Those of us, however, who took the trouble to watch yesterday will be a touch more upbeat about the future. The signs looked very promising. The best news for us is that the core of this team will probably stay; the likelihood of PL managers seeking any of this squad at the moment is low and so any transfer action is likely to come from other Championship clubs - who will have to show that they are a better bet than staying here.

It wasn't just the substitution, it was a change in shape, too, at least when Alf came on. Blackman was out wide with just Alf up front and Jobi just behind. With that, we lost the ability to pressure their goal at all and we're holding on by the end.

We came under all that pressure because of Morrisons injury meaning we couldn't defend effectively. Nothing more to it.

The score line would suggest that we were able to defend effectively

Perhaps not AS effectively; but we were still effective

The defending was ineffective. The goalkeeping was excellent.

Why didn't we replace him then?
