Rangers clinch signing of highly-rated goalkeeper Alex McCarthy from Reading ...
HIGHLY-RATED goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has joined Queens Park Rangers, signing a four-year deal at Loftus Road.
The 24 year-old shot-stopper has penned a deal until the summer of 2018, after Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with Championship outfit Reading for his services.
The ex-England U21 international, who won three caps for the Young Lions, will wear the number 12 shirt.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp believes the addition of McCarthy to his squad will significantly strengthen his options in the goalkeeping department, commenting: “I am delighted to bring Alex in.
“He’s a great young goalkeeper with a great future in front of him. I think he’s got the potential to be a future England goalkeeper one day, so to have him here at QPR is fantastic.
“We’ve got Rob Green and Brian Murphy, and Alex’s arrival here helps to further strengthen the goalkeeping department.
“I want to have competition for places in all areas of the pitch, and you can’t have too much quality in your squad.
“He is a great signing for the club, and for the future of QPR.
McCarthy, who will come into contention after the international break, is relishing the opportunity to return to the Premier League under the guidance of Redknapp, adding: “I’m over the moon to be back in the Premier League.
“When you’re growing up, all you dream about is playing in the best league in the world – I had a taste of it at Reading, but to be back here now is fantastic.”
Rangers beat off stiff late competition from a number of big Premier League clubs for the keeper’s services and McCarthy revealed why he favoured a move to Loftus Road, commenting: “I spoke to Harry a few times and that was probably the icing on the cake for me.
“I’m only 24 and I want to be playing games – there are goalkeeper’s out there that have sat on the bench and been forgotten about. I don’t want to be one of those. It’s a great challenge for me.”

akranes "With Alex having entered the final year of his contract here in Berkshire, the initial deal is a good one for Reading Football Club and we also have significant financial protection moving forward."

3points I hope he now gets a run of games, plays really well and then gets picked up by a decent club. He is easily as good as Forster, Foster, Ruddy. And perhaps QPR have a goal keeping coach who can get him to kick more consistently as Bibbo has failed to do that. He will soon have. Glenn Hoddle as his manager too.
Great keeper and a loss to Reading.

This quote would indicate add ons if he should move on with his career . but doesn`t this undisclosed fee shit piss you off?
Well now we have sold 3 players and netted something like 10m . how much of this money will go out again before Monday night?
my guess is f*ck all
