No Fixed Abode

Which only goes to show how uneducated those people are about football. I was told Fulham made it public, so Clarke should bear no responsibility for it. We'd all potentially look at other jobs if it meant earning more money.

I wouldn't even entertain the idea after less than a year somewhere as it doesn't look good on your CV.

Yeah. Imagine someone offering you, say 5k a week more - I'd definitely turn that down because it would look bad on my CV.

Rest assured that if you keep hopping around between jobs to push your salary up it will start to work against you, particularly in a relatively small employment community. Given how quickly Clarke became open to other offers, particularly given the very good backing he had appeared to receive from the owners, there is already likely to be a bit of a question mark against him amongst some potential employers. Mind you an even bigger question mark will be around the fact that this is the second time that he has seemed to get off to a good start at a club only for performances/results to start to slide with him seemingly clueless as to how to turn things around.

Don't waste yer time chap. Kes's argument is that we wouldn't be upset about it if we didn't find out about it! :?:

MmmMonsterMunch I really hope Fulham bin him off now & he ends up with nothing.

Does anyone know much about pay-offs? You'd think in this day & age that clubs would protect themselves & have pre-agreed compromise agreements that don't necessarily equate to paying up the full remainder of the contract.

Hopefully the Thai's have used their business nous on this & he hasn't ended up with much.

I think there may have been a bit of judicious/unfortunate editing of the interview that BBRB did with a lawyer. When talking about the fact that Clarke was entitled to get the rest of his contract paid didn't he preface it with something like 'on the face of it' ? That would suggest there was a 'however' to follow.

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to breach of contract claims the claimant has a duty to mitigate his/her losses. Therefore Clarke can't just sit around at home with his feet up for the next 18 months and expect to be paid in full. I think that likely time unemployed, likelihood of getting another job etc. etc. are all taken into account when assessing what should be paid to him (assuming that the two parties don't reach agreement prior to the matter going to court).

So I wouldn't expect Clarke to get his contract paid off in full.

I'm pretty sure there must be a lawyer on HNA who can give a qualified view/opinion on this.

I'd say fcuking off to chat up another contract is a breach in itself

But, the club gave him permission to talk to Fulham. Granted, they were effectively having a gun held to their head but I would have thought any claim for breach of contract would be mitigated in part by that. I think it was a gamble by Clarke and it's blown up quite spectacularly in his face. No job and a damaged reputation both professionally and personally.

Yeah.

Not really fair though, is it? By his actions of looking to break the contract, he made us have to break it ourselves.

Some opportunity for dirty tricks there

No it's not fair but long term, the damage to his career will be greater than the damage to the club, a far from stellar managerial record and a reputation as a coniving git.

i'm sorry, where other than West Brom has he got off to a good start? Because his first 29 games here he picked up less than a point a game.

Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to grey
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carryin' on

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking us down

So Clarke that's why you're fired

His contract will either have a pay-off clause included (eg 12 months) or it will be silent. If it is silent, he is likely to be entitled to his contract being paid up in full. However, that becomes a negotiation with the club which you'd imagine Nigel Howe will be throwing in "Fulham effect" to reduce the pay-off

SC: I want my 18 months please Nige
NH: oxf*rd off, if you'd not been so greedy we'd have got compo from Fulham. We're paying you nowt
SC: I could sit on my arse for 18 months and collect my salary
NH: why don't you tap up Fulham again. If you get the job we'll give you six months, if not you can have 12 months
SC: Go on then, deal

Very apt RB. But someone needs to tell Daniel Powter that 'lost' doesn't rhyme with 'most' even if they both end in 'ost'!!

Extended-Phenotype I'd say fcuking off to chat up another contract is a breach in itself

Unless you were given clear permission to do so.

Although only because the last time the club said no it didn't make the blindest bit of difference.

Shame Clarke doesn't 'do' social media.

Shame, because he won't see this.

Dear Clarke,

You won't be missed. And fairly soon you won't even be remembered.

That's what you 'achieved' at Reading Football Club.

Yours etc.

Herring.
