DOYLERSAROYALER
Ian Royal
Avon Royal Excellent news!

Am really happy with this appointment - and I expect the players are too. Having said that, if they don't all turn up for training tomorrow wearing their Championship winners medals I'll be seriously disappointed in them!

Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelighted with this.

My first choice. A good, intelligent, articulate manager, with a history of success under different circumstances and a tendency to use better midfielders more effectively than we've done recently. I think this is absolutely the right choice. All that remains to be seen is if it is a successful choice.

LOL at Anton and the club, what a total shambles this whole process has been. We're a laughing stock.

+1....Adkins CV was far better than Poyets and should have been first choice if between the two...good record with 54% win rate ...hopefully he will give the squad a good shake up ...after all he's got no favourites so it should be on the cards !

And if he plays McAnuff and Leigertwood hopefully our thickos will stop banging on about loyalty and start recognising it's because there might not be better options for the role they play.

I would guess that is one of the questions he asked during negotiations

Apparently he didn't.

His only interest was his fake tan allowance.

2 world wars, 1 world cup Very sad about Brian going.

Would've wanted Curbishley in.

BUT

Delighted with Adkins. Sidewards step or not I think most people are missing the point as only one thing matters here:

HE'S ANTON'S MAN

Poor old Brian was never Anton's man. Anton did a favour to let him stay it seems when he took over and was just waiting for him to slip up. The unexpected promotion threw him. He would have to be a world beater to have a chance in hell, and the poor man would never get the full funds support from Anton. Right or wrong, that's the way it is.

I'd rather have a man in who Anton wants and will support fully, with no excuses.

Fir that reason alone goodbye Brian, welcome Adkins.

NIGEL ADKINS' BARMY ARMY!!!!!!!!

Christ, you do talk some rubbish.

Ideal Massively underwhelmed at the thought of Adkins as new manager.
Not good enough, if the idea is to appoint a manager who can "take us to the next level" we need to be looking at a better option than this.

Dunno why I clicked on this thread when I saw you were the latest poster. are you ever fecking happy about anything???

I heard Anton thought the tan was real? So denied him. That's why we were after Di Canio/Poyet, etc.

Totally agree.Unless he gets about £30 million to spend, he will not "take us to the next level". Unless that level is mediocrity. So for me it's a massive :| and meh.

Announcement expected tomorrow then. Zingarevich arrived and was spotted entering the stadium this evening. Sky say Adkins expected to take charge at Arsenal, and Dolan told the players today would be his last day training.

Adkins also isn't afraid to pick youngsters like Shaw, so the likes of Obita, Samuel etc will all have a chance to impress this summer, especially with a few outs expected. Brilliant!

Ideal Fact remains that "tactical genious" Adkins got outdone in the chump last year by McD, and they had a much better squad than us - what the hell is the point of appointing this clueless tactician, and calling it "taking us to the next level"? It's just oxf*rd rubbish, thoroughly underwhelming, and I feel like we've been murked.
