A win at Forest on Saturday would allow us the breathing space for that "one loss" against Leeds. But I reckon we could win 5 out of our remaining games, because Leeds aren't any great shakes in the defensive department, and up against a firing Shane Long, who knows!

How about our aging defence against Leeds' forwards? Nightmare. They're the biggest test ahead of us, and God help us if we get them in the play-offs.

As good as Leeds are going forward, defensively they are the most vunerable of any team in the Playoffs and they'll concede goals every day of the week.

is that the aging defence that conceeded one goal against Msrs Ballotelli, Tevez, Silva, Wright-Phillips, Osman, Saha, Arteta and Beckford? We've kept a clean sheet against Leeds already.

I think you are wrong. 12 wins and we will be promoted without needing to go through the play offs!!

Other teams above us dropping points permitting, obviously...

If Norwich get more than 14 points from their remaining fixtures - which are much harder than ours then they deserve second place. All credit to them.

If they only get 14 points, then we would both finish with 84 and then RFC will most likely have the better goal difference.

All hypothetical of course.

The fact that we can see the finish line from here tends to obscure one otherwise 'bvious thing, which is that fully 15 percent of a season remains to be played

That may not sound like much, but it really is quite a chunk, and a lot of points are there to be won and lost by all

Interesting though that the relegation spots are more or less decided --overhauling a seven-point deficit over seven matches affords precious little room for imperfection and requires some good fortune as well-- and that all remaining realistic hope for automatic (i.e., finishing as runners-up) is pretty much limited to the current top six

The table, from about fifth on down to twenty-third in particular, was looking much more closely bunched until very recently, but now we see pretty clearly what "mid-table obscurity" looks like this season with a substantial portion of it yet unplayed

Ian Royal the aging defence that conceeded one goal against Msrs Ballotelli

That was Mario's mum on the pitch? I had wondered why he seemed so poor.

Next couple of games are absolutely huge with all four play off teams playing ones chasing on Leeds' coat-tails.

Then Cardiff play QPR, We play Leeds and Norwich have a local Derby.

Win the next two and I think we may actually make second, because from then in, it's relatively easy.
