See, this is what I don't get about you and WoodleyRoyal. You don't like the way Mills comes across as a person, yet look at the way you come across as a person. :?

Royal Lady When was the last time that happened? I genuinely haven't heard it. :|

last time he stepped on the pitch

theres a reason why you dont hear it any more

its cos he hates you, and everyone like you,
and while wondering why he ever bothered, decided its just not worth the grief, aggro and cheques for millions of pounds,
so he stopped coming onto the pitch, and stopped purtting any money in for the benefit of a bunch of ungrateful spoilt twats.

personally i blame you and your husband for the demise of this club, with all your "wheres all the money goneing"

brendywendy lol at chesting it down and volleying it in, from the middle of a crowded penalty box, in the FA cup away at everton being simple.

and i thought he came across brilliantly " as a person" after the game last night tbf

Agreed. I can't believe anyone's bothered about the finger incident any more: in any case, he apologised. I'm surprised more players don't give the finger to their own fans when they're booed.

Hoop Blah A one off performance against a lethargic Everton doesn't mean we're more cut out for the Premiership I'm afraid.

It means we can raise our game for a big one off match, but don't forget for all the good organisation and excellent defending we didn't really create much to threaten them. If you put that side in the Premiership it would only be making up the numbers (which is no slur on the current team, just the reality that a mid-table Championship side would need some strengthening to compete in the league above).

Even the prem teams don't get many chances against Everton. But I think we had our share: I remember a fantastic chance for Kébé, plus two for Tabb, and Harte not far away with a free kick.

Are we in danger of putting ourselves down as fans too much? This thing of picking on certain players happens at all clubs; but it's only a minority who do it. We all groan at times, but that's just a normal human reaction. In my opinion the Reading fans aren't a bad lot. We have a negative streak because of our history: it's born of prolonged disappointment and insulates us from pain. But the crowds remain surprisingly high considering we are now just a mid-table championship team. And the patience of fans during our ludicrously long run of home defeats was a phenomenon. Many teams would love fans like that: Middlesbrough, for example.

LUX I just searched Colin Cheeselog's posts since January. He has serious issues.

He doesn't like people calling players by their nicknames (Elwood etc). "Have you asked them whether they like being called this?" "Is this another nickname for someone you've never met" etc.

Manset was spelled wrong, without Matty's (sic) permission  .

Plus posts about "crying inside because that cnut Mills is the captain of my club".

I suspect Colin is Mills's girlfriend's ex.

Royal Lady Sad to hear JM wasn't at the game as he'd gone to the theatre in London instead.

I did say I thought he was losing interest.....he prolly thought we'd get beaten.

I thought they said it was Bill Kenwright who had gone to the theatre and JM was on holiday?

Not doubting that we're not ready for the Prem, but didn't threaten them? Which game were you watching? I thought we looked pretty dangerous going forward personally. Kebe should have scored with the one-on-one and both Tabb and Harte came close.

personally id say that this team plus bertrand and sigurdsson would stay up, no problem.
but then i would say that, wouldnt i

If we don't go up, it will be because we had too many draws. You'd think this would bode badly for next season, if we do go up; but I remember that when we went up from the first division we did surprisingly well considering we ended the previous season with more draws than Billy the Kid.

One other thing I meant to say. The notion that McCarthy might have been in any way weakened by Mills having a go at him at Palace seems to me unlikely. It might not be ideal man-management techniques, but we don't know what McCarthy's temperament is or what the off-field relationship between the two is (when I played football I often got bollocked by captains, who I then drank with afterwards). McCarthy's body language does not seem to me that of a man who's easily intimidated.

Fac, Forest have had 14 draws to our 15 and it doesn't seem to be a problem for them. They are 11 points clear of us

Correct. Confirmed by McCarthy himself on twitter.

Colin Cheeselog Anybody who thinks one incident of Mills kicking the ball accurately from 12 yards outweighs his 2 years of being an utter intolerable cnut are probably retarded.

I am, however, both pleased and surprised that he didn't hoof it as hard as possible in the wrong direction.

I can't even raise a LOl at someone who thinks that anyone having an opposing view to his own must be retarded. Cod-superiority to that degree is to be pitied. I respect your opinion not to like Mills, but I defend anybody's right to take the opposite view and not be insulted. It reduces your comment to worthless. Try a grown-up view and conduct a rational conversational debate.

You seem to have missed my (very simple) point. Several people stated their opinion that they don’t rate Mills and don’t like the way he comes across as a person.

After Mills then scored several other people then tried mocking those people that had stated their dislike of Mills, implying that scoring a rather straight forward goal was evidence that Mills was a good player after all and a wonderful captain.

My point was that having built up an opinion over 2 years or so, that isn’t immediately counteracted because of one goal, yet people were mocking as if obviously all his bad performances and his bad attitude was now erased from history.

I didn’t once say that anybody who had an opposing view to me was retarded, only those people that think one tap in goal outweighs countless shocking performances, his making threats to Reading fans (yes, this is true) and sticking his figure up to fans.

Read my comment again, perhaps more carefully.

I have read it all again and again and again - your "considered" view is that one kick doesn't outweigh two years (something I happen to actually agree with), but that anyone who does (and therefore OPPOSES your view - look it up in a dictionary ) must be a retard. So, yes, you did insult people who simply have a different opinion to you.

brendywendy actually reading fans are different t o any other fans. see coppells car park demo, the same week that the other relegated teams were demonstrating to get rid of their managers.

and no one was praising kitson after his drink driving, or lita after his fights - by the way.

True. We're a strange fan base if truth be told. At so many matches the support is seemingly apathetic (library has more noise, etc) and yet the passion is there amongst much of the fan base.

As I said yesterday, Mill's has to believe, because he is a player. His post-match interview sent a tingle down my spine, because quite clearly he believes we can get to Wembley. I don't think any of us fans believe that, though we're hoping it. There's no earthly reason why we can't do the same job on City or Villa that we did on Everton. City have entered a sticky patch and were discombobulated for a long time by Notts County; Villa might be starting to improve, but they aren't as a good a side as the one that beat us last year. Who else is there to fear? Arsenal (if they get through)--but they struggled with Huddersfield and Orient. Man United--beaten by Leeds last year and taken close by Crawley. I'm too much of a negative fan to really believe we can do it, but I'm glad Mills believes we can. And I can hope and dream. This could yet be one of the most extraordinary seasons of our lives. :o :?:

I don't think the MadStad helps, because you feel so exposed. I don't shout and scream so much there as I did at Elm Park, because it's too noticeable. The atmosphere is better away because the fans are all crowded together rather than spaced out like gravestones in Picardy. It's hard to get the Reading Roar together at the Madejski.
