Maguire I'm a big fan of ignoring great chunks of a season because it doesn't suit the outcome I want.

Yet in 2008/9 when Reading FC HAD BEEN flying early season, but were meh since Xmas,
it was fine THEN to say, "take no notice of the fact we can get auto on the last day, we've been poor since Xmas..."

Weren't you ignoring great chunks of THAT season?

Current Form is a well-known tried and tested statistic. In RFC's case it's even
more important (as the manager says) because we went through a sea-change
in style and tactics after losing Gylfi.

It seems with you lot, what's important is to present the worst possible front at all times.

I can confirm that your continued whining since snitchgate on AE underlines the above.

No idea who you are or what that means but welcome to hob nob :!:

As ever, you are picking your timescales to suit your argument.

Why not take the last 5 games where we are 1-3-1, have failed to score on 3 occasions and have looked poor?

BTW, if we don't go up, he could be in West Ham's sights?

He's fairly low profile for them, and wouldn't be on their radar.

Could Coppell be prepared to end his self-imposed retirement?

Also, yes, very excited for tonight. Although I'm bugging the other 2 RFC fans in my office, at the tender age of 22 I havent had the joy knocked out of me yet. Although that away day at Burnley and the subsequent home game did try hard.

No, I'm picking the time-scale as indicated by Brian McDermot.

We've been 3 teams (arguably 4)

Games 01-04 With Gylfi, 5 points from 4 games. 1.25 ppg
Games 05-15 Immediately post-Gylfi, looking for a new shape and tactics. 17 points from 11 games, 1.55 ppg
Games 16-46 Finding our feet, more or less 442, Elwood signs, unfit. Hunt & Long partnership up front, Elwood-Karacan midfield. 55 points from 31 games = 1.77 ppg

There has been a very clear, distinct change and improvement in the three stages, from 1.25 ppg (58 point season) thru 1.55 ppg (71 point season) to 1.77 ppg (81 point season)

Because (a) it's dumb and (b) it's a bizarre choice and (c) it was the team reacting to missing out on the automatics

Well not really, it coincides with the loss of one of our key players and, just as we had to adapt to playing without Gylfi, we have to adapt to playing without Kebe, something we haven't yet achieved.

And you don't think 31 games is a bizarre choice?!

Snowball I think our slow start has confused you all.

From game 16 to game 46 we have been better than Swansea, better than Cardiff, better then Forest and better than QPR.

That's two-thirds of a season. With a half-decent start we'd've been automatics with one of QPR/Norwich missing out.

In the same 31 games Cardiff have been mediocre (11th).

If it goes to form we should win.

BELIEVE!!

This is the simple crunching i like. I shall believe more after 15 minutes of the game have gone and we look on top of things. It will ether be a hellish experience or unadulterated joy.

disagree REX. Forest were miles on top last night after 15 mins but were fatally wounded by half time.
