Elm Park Pasty I saw this yesterday on The Secret Footballer's website. Having read it, it so reminded me of Pearce, even down to the wage figure p/w being the same as quoted elsewhere

Given that it is way too early to say what is going to happen to Pearce, it would be interesting if no PL clubs came in for him. What would his options be then? Not as if he can say 'well I love the club and I'm excited to stay' is it?

“I do think Alex would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle,” “He’s in a fantastic position, and there’s a number of clubs monitoring him.” “Newcastle would be a club that would interest him.”
“He’s a leader, and a player that Reading groomed to be captain.” “He’s a vocal player and isn’t afraid of telling people if they’re not doing their jobs.” “He leads from the back, pushes the defense up, and gives 100% in training and games.”
“He’s not in any rush and a lot of clubs aren’t in any rush either. He’s got himself into this position and the next move has to be right for him on football grounds.”
“Premier League football is something that once you’ve had a taste of it, you don’t want to let it go, but at the moment we’re still in touch with Reading.”
“He came through the Academy there, but if they want to bring players in and pay them more than the lads who came through the Academy, there is a decision to make.”

maffff A source close to the player (his agent?) has been quoted in the Shields Gazette today and this is what they said:“I do think Alex would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle,” “He’s in a fantastic position, and there’s a number of clubs monitoring him.” “Newcastle would be a club that would interest him.”

Alan Pardew has said he would like to sign players with Premier League experience, and in addition we are short of leaders on the pitch, so if Alex is good enough, he would seem to be a decent signing as a free agent.

Royalwaster But I suspect that if he does stay it will be in him and the club's interest to make it sound like he always wanted to stay ..... doubt he'll be offered anywhere near £25k though now mind.

Norfolk Royal At least the agent talk confirms that Pearce threw a wobbly because players (Pog I would imagine) were being paid more than him.

ZacNaloen That just sounds like he has zero offers on the table in the premier league and his agent has messed this up.

Pearce's mate “I do think Alex would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle,” “He’s in a fantastic position, and there’s a number of clubs monitoring him.” “Newcastle would be a club that would interest him.”
