1904SLB Hi Reading fans,

I'm benfiquista (Benfica fan) and I registered with the purpose of giving you my opinion regarding Carriço.

Thanks for that effort.

I understand the feeling, of course. No problem. Hope it works out, Carriço seems a good lad.

Best of luck this season.

+1

To be fair, I very much doubt Benfica fans have much positive to say anything connected with sporting lisbon from what I can gather.

He is signed as a CDM (well I hope so) because our current one is beyond crap like Carrico could not do a worser job. Maybe this is the change he has been looking for and will revitalise his career.

Many thanks again for the effort.

Regarding Sporting, nothing against them. The enemy of portuguese football (and sport in general) is Porto (I will not develop as it would be off-topic, but lets just "golden whistle porto"). Sporting are historical rivals.

On-topic: If your current defensive midfielder is "beyond crap", he can be useful. He played there when Rinaudo was injured and he got the job done. Better than Gelson Fernandes anyway. As long as you use him at midfield, he can deliver something. Cb would be more difficult for him, looking at his perfomances in Portugal.

(hope you get that 2-2)

Fair enough. I knew Porto was more of a rivalry but I assumed with location Sporting would be also hated upon.

Our manager just confirmed he is going to be a CDM so good news.

how tall is carrico? i seem to remember him being only 5'10 or so. were going to miss ledge's imposing size and strength in the midfield. if only he could oxf*rd pass he would still be of use to us!

Really? Yes he's good at throwing himself into a tackle, but then he panics and gives the ball away all too often. I don't think size really comes in to it. Smaller holding midfielders have done a far better job for other clubs.

I wouldn't expect to see him against Crawley. I think from McDermott's interview we may be looking at him as a bit of a slow burner - so expect Legs to hold his place for a while yet.

i know. i was giving him the benefit of the doubt not resorting to cock jokes so i chose to take it as a sarcastic statement. dick jokes are low tier.
