Huntley & Palmer Interesting that he was already there on Tuesday, has been sat at home rather being at RFC games and of course the section about loaning him until the end of the season

Royal Rother Leroy Lita was our top scorer and in the team of the tournament. HTH.

However that miss was comical wasn't it? and he hasn't scored a single goal since then in the League in which his employers compete. But he should still be the first name on the team sheet because he's the only one who knows where the goal is.

The chap has found his level, U21 Internationals, Championship football and Reserve team games against a bunch of spotty youths. (And past-it Ukranians of course!)

Whilst Saint Kevin is banging them in, oh and 'supersub' Shane 'wonderkid', 7 goals in 53 appearances.

It was a bad miss, not as bad as Les Ferdinand's miss for Reading against Leicester, now he must have been shit throughout his career for missing one like that.

should Lita be the first name on the sheet? no not really, but he deserves a chance at least in the first team of 4 or 5 games back to back up front. Instead of any of the failing Reading forwards. Be that Saint Kevin, wonderkid Shane or 1 more pint Kitson.

Oh it was far worse than Ferdinand's miss. (Not that I saw that one...)

But anyway the point is that he is not as good as some people like to believe - never has been, never will be.

I wanted him to play against Man City, and thought he would, but he has obviously been shipped out for a reason. It just astonishes me how some muppets on here will seize on anything that happens and assume they know every nuance of every decision thus qualifying them to demand the manager's head for rank incompetence etc. when in fact they know fcuk all about it.

I also know fcuk all about it but clubs don't make this sort of move for no reason.

for the record, Les Ferdinand missed an open goal from two yards if that in the middle of the goal so no it wasn't as bad as Les' famous miss.

Surely you can understand why lots of people are angry at this? It's the timing more than anything, we now have 3 misfiring forwards to pick from for the next crucial month. If Lita starts banging them in for Charlton it makes even more of a mockery of it. If it was done in January I would have absolutely no problem with this. Sending him out now doesn't make sense.

If that's true about him storming off last saturday then IMO it's fully warranted. coppell says 'do well for the reserves' well you can't do any better than what Lita has been doing, and still he doesn't name him in the 16. This isn't a new thing, this has been the situation for months so why the hell didn't Coppell sort it when we could have got someone else that he wanted in to replace him?

Huntley & Palmer Lita interview from Charlton official site, with some rather interesting comments :

New Charlton striker Leroy Lita is aiming to make up for lost time after sealing a loan switch from Reading on Wednesday morning.

The 23-year-old watched from the stands the previous evening as his new club shared a 1-1 draw against the team with which he started his professional career, Bristol City.

And he is champing at the bit to swap his television for the Valley promotion vision against Preston North End this weekend as he starts an initial one-month loan spell, which could conceivably be extended until the end of the season.

"I'm really looking forward to what's a little fresh start for me, and I just want to start enjoying my football again," said Leroy, who has been restricted to just 11 Premier League outings for the struggling Royals this term.

"I was at the game on Tuesday night and the team is very good with some good attacking players.

"I know a few of the Charlton boys, too, like Jon Fortune, Lloyd Sam, Jerome Thomas and Chris Dickson, and I'm looking forward to going into training on Thursday."

He added: "It's been so frustrating for me this season, because I don't feel I've really had an opportunity.

"I've not really been involved in the last few weeks and have been sitting at home watching Paul Merson and Matt Le Tissier on Gillette Soccer Saturday.
"I don't like sitting at home. I'm a footballer, and I want to play week-in, week-out."

Born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, former Chelsea youngster Lita made his name at Bristol City and scored on his debut for England U21s before joining Reading for £1m in summer 2005.

He found the net 14 times last season as the Royals enjoyed a hugely successful first season in the top flight, but times have been far tougher at the Madejski Stadium this term.

The quest for Premier League football in 2008/09 connects Lita's parent club and his new loan outfit - and with 10 games remaining in the Championship, the pacy striker wants to fire the Addicks higher in the table.

He said: "Obviously, I've come from one team wanting one thing to another, but at the moment there is only one option for me, at Charlton.

"Charlton are a big club and were obviously in the Premier League for many years. The fans are great and they really get behind the team.

"Everyone was disappointed we didn't get the win on Tuesday, but in the end it was a game of two halves.

"I want to play football at Charlton and I have to get straight down to business as we are obviously coming to the end of the season and everyone is looking for points."

Lita has one goal to his credit this season, at Swansea City in the Carling Cup, a fixture in which new - and old - teammate Sam Sodje was sent off.

And he is keen to return to the scoring charts sooner rather than later.

"I'll be looking to score as many goals as I can for the team and help us get the points," said Lita, who scored three times against Preston in Reading's promotion campaign of 2005/06.

"It's been unbelievably frustrating for me this season, but as a footballer you make sure you are ready to deal with such opportunities.

"It will be good to be involved again and playing football, and this is a great opportunity for me to go out and start enjoying myself again."

Jesus, no one deserves that.

Yes he does say do well for the reserves, AP, and he may feel that Long's all round performance in the ressies has been better rather than a 3 game burst of goals from Lita. It should be taken in to context as well that 4 were against Derby reserves and 1 against a very young Arsenal side.

It's also interesting that he has gone to Pardew's Charlton, perhaps (and this is just a guess but based on as much as anything else on here). Coppell has phoned him, as we know they are close, said that they've had some issues with Lita over the past few days/weeks and would he be prepared to take him on loan for a month so that everyone involved has time to take a step back, relax and maybe allow Lita to get some first team games/goals in him.

I understand your opinion and you have every right to express it. It's the repetition I don't like. Repetition without knowing the reason for said decision. I will reiterate - I went to Citeh away last year and Lita was brilliant, I wanted him to start on saturday, I am a bit disappointed that he has gone.

HOWEVER repetition of the same points is rather boring. I feel all of this is just an attempt by the STG"s and the negative folk amongst you to take over the board again.

Please everyone have patience and a little faith.

Imho Lita's points on Charlton's website show that something was wrong at Reading for him. But to use this as an excuse to criticise the very nature of RFC is a bit pathetic.

On this issue yes it is.

I've said my lot for this thread quite a few times so that's enough from me on this issue. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and I get a feeling RFC have got this one wrong.

I've thought Lita would leave in the summer anyway, regardless of whether we stay up or he does well at Charlton, but with his comments on Charlton's official site and the fact that the loan may be extended i'm absolutely convinced he'll be off now. It seems like he's got no future at the club.

Just to add my bit... I posted on here a lot last season that Lita must be given a chance, time and again. OK he had a brilliant spell around December if I remeber but then the goals dried up amid plenty of adverse comment. Fact is he hasn't scored goals this season, puts a few in with the reserves but that doesn't qualify for a 1st team place automatically. The team needs to get to a position of goal supply and hopefully we shall see that. Good luck to Lita, lets hope he can justify whatever. But I stick with SC s way

I meant to say that other posters on here have used Lita's loan move as an excuse to be hyper-negative.

Lita's comments show he wants to play. That is all.
