A player that gives 110%, good at taking corners, good taking free kicks, good luck. Who I am going to moan about now?

OLLIE KEARNS Here's a "cold light of day" view of Hunty.

His key strength was his desire which in turn fueled an ability to get around the pitch at a continued level of intensity that few players can match. I'll never forget the first half of the Chelsea match (2nd season in prem) when Sidwell was taken off at half time having had Hunty on his back almost every time he go the ball.
His energy levels also often took him into areas that proved to be highly creative i.e last minute goal v Sunderland. A 95th minute run from midfield to get on the end of a cross is a match winning attribute.
Technically he is decent at best but any deficiency was masked by the previously mentioned attributes.

If you look at the past 3 seasons adrenalin levels would have been very high for the most part i.e championship winning season, first year in prem, first half of 2nd season in prem. I think this is a crucial element in terms of him being able to play at such high levels of intensity. My view is that once adrenalin levels drop (struggling side in 2nd prem season) and you get 46 game championship seasons (last year) then his ability to get around the pitch becomes impaired. Take just 5% of that away from his game and you expose his technical limitations.

His move to Hull is good for everyone. Less games plus Prem adrenalin will relight his fire next season and he'll be back at old performance levels. We get to reinvest the money in a player that is a better fit for our current squad.

All in all he was a very good player for Reading. The time is right for change and I wish him alll the best at Hull.

There is so much there that I agree with and some I would like to but feel the jury is still out.

I was a big fan of Hunty and still laugh at those who insist he has no talent but at the same time have never accused any of Sidwell, Shorey, Murty and Ingimarsson of having a poor game in the hoops. Their favorites never put a foot wrong and those they hate never do anything right.

For me, though, I'm waiting to see how Hunt performs for Hull.

Either, the player who was one of our best as we came within a point of a place in Europe has lost much of the talent that allowed him to reach those heights or, he's taken his foot off the pedal for much of the last 2 seasons whilst demanding top wages and never missing an opportunity to express his desire to leave the club and supporters who could not have done more to support him when he was being accused of deliberately causing serious injury to another player.

Whilst accepting that this division is a long slog and Hunt's high energy performances might eventually take their toll, I'm currently having a hard time believing that Stephen Hunt hasn't been seriously short changing this club in recent times.

Unless he bombs at Hull, I believe there will be a justifiable difference between the receptions (and I'm not advocating booing) given to Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle when they return to this club and the former will only have himself to blame...................if he actually gives a flying one.

Can’t help thinking that an in-form and on-song Hunt would have vastly improved Saturday’s left midfield. Perhaps we could loan him back from Hull until January.

Shorey was shocking in his last season for us as has been posted on about a million threads not so far from this one!

As for Sidwell, Shorey, Muts and Ingi, I do not, ever, recall a single one of them be quoted in the media stating that they wanted to leave.

Just accept that the move is best for all concerned.

The Rouge but one of the things over the years I have disliked is how RFC fans seemed to have gone from fans-that-remember-past-players-who-have-contributed-to-the-club to ungrateful-plastic-fans-that-boo-players-as-soon-as-they-move-on.

Unusually, I disagree with The Rouge here. I'd say that one of the good things about RFC supporters is that they do applaud ex-players coming back; Nathan Tyson was given healthy applause when he came on for Forest as sub just the other day. From what I recall, Sidwell was given a warm reception when he came back with Chelsea and was then the subject of some good-hearted taunting when the game started. And that is how it should be.

I do accept the move is best for all concerned.

I was alluding to the fact that some supporters never gave him any credit for having any talent whatsoever when that clearly was not the case.

You also seem to have missed the point about Shorey etc.

Rodgers can probably accommodate 1 player who is going to play off the cuff, and create things from nothing, and at the moment, that's probably Kebe.

Oh for crying out loud!! Enough of the Kebe is God. How many open goals does this clown have to miss before you all realise he's a liability!?!?! He has done NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING AT ALL to warrant the praise that is regualrly heaped on him. The man is a total waste of space who happens to be able run fast, (when he can be arsed)!!! He's a spinter NOT a footballer.

Where did I say Kebe is God ?

Huh? Could it be because such occasions were so few and far between? With the obvious exception of Shorey who was utterly dreadful in his last season with us - because he wanted to leave...

Arch
Ark Royal Not unless we use some of this pikey money to buy a new striker to replace The Doyler. That has to be No.1 priority. Smith or Nugent please!

Why one of those two, Ark? I have to admit I've never been all that excited abotu the prospect of spendnig seven figures on Smith. Nugent I think is a terrific talent, but it's somewhat worrying that he hasn't kicked on. I'd be enthusiastic about signing him, but not to the exclusion of anyone else. I'd definitely like to see us sign a real goal threat, but I'm not goign to throw my hat into the ring for a certain player purely on the grounds that we've been linked with them in the press.

Fair enough Arch. It is just that without trawling through every player available, they appear to be the ones that immediately spring to mind. Agree about Nugent, but he is still only 24 and obviously the move to Pompey was a bad move and he ended up on 'Arry's shit list. Also, on his rare appearances, they did not play him in his best position as an out-and-out striker. Still think he would be a great signing

Kebe would need to have some end product before he can be a recognised HNA scapegoat!

Checking the Chelsea forums after our friendly and asking who they thought was our most threatening player, the majority voted Kebe.
Who's whinging about him now?

tbf, I was a Kebe fan, but recently have become very supset with his level of football. Not booing him (or anyone, ever) but he will now be the one that fans shout at. If he plays.
