Surely compensation at both ends of Rodger's tenure will not happen again. Curbs - currently relaxing and watching daytime TV and needs a job. His wife is nagging the fcuk out of him. He owes money to the paperboy and RFC can sort this out by mutual consent. Sorted.

No, I'm not as emotionally fragile as you seem to be. I hope Madejski brings in Ferguson as he was my original first choice in the summer, but replacing Rodgers, who was building and improving us slowly (as the majority of HNA? voted), with Hart or Coppell would seal relegation.

I've just heard the news now and am stunned......

I'm actually quite disappointed because I think in time Rodgers would have built a fantastic Reading side.

Obviously we were very weak in defence and were shipping alot of soft goals which was costing us games. But until the January transfer window opens there isn't alot Rodgers could do about that. He needed a few transfer windows to sort the club out.

In my opinion the man wasn't given enough time and that was a bad decision to terminate him by mutual consent.

I'd like O'Driscoll actually.

winchester_royal What this decision will do is unite the fan base again

+1!

Everyone will stop arguing about Rodgers, JM and money, and be focussed on who the new manager is, is he going to sign anyone, etc.
There is the danger of Paul Sturrock

well at least he has parkinsons 8)

So it's Hart or Coppell then. If Rodgers number one advocate thinks they'd be bad appointments they must be good choices.

Genuinely shocked at this decision particularly as it was mentioned to me recently via a source at the club that Rodgers will only go if he lost dressing room or results dont improve.

Personnally speaking i think events at other clubs as led to Rodgers sacking. With Laws being sacked, Wednesday are looking at a decent top target of which there are a few out there already mentioned who are not in work. Madjeski has been tipped off that he will lose one of his targets (if Reading situ worsened over coming weeks) to Wednesday, so he has brought forward the sacking. Curbishley, Southgate, Ferguson, one of them being lined up, methinks Ferguson, and he is now our no 1 target.

Gutted for Rodgers, decent man, but even I was losing my patience with him and the results.

There is no danger of him as manager as he has merely moved upstairs at Plymouth.

Surely O'Driscoll is a feasible target? My only worry is that he also plays pretty football without a cutting edge & I'm guessing we're all bored of that!!

Results had improved - 7 (points) out of 9 and then 10 from 15 would show that they had.

It's a gamble. Let's hope it pays off.

How big a gamble depends on who can be persuaded to come in an take over.

I too hoped that Rodgers could be really successful for us, maybe in time he would have been - now we'll never know. All we can do is try and get behind the team and spur them on to play as if everything rides on every single game.

PS my money is on Rafa Benitez

Rodgers HUGE confidence/arrogance in his ability and the team's ability was IMO not helping to motivate the players and was making them expect to do better but not actually put in the sort of effort to see it through (bar players like Tabb and McAnuff who have really gone for it in pretty much every game).

I won't say I'm glad he's gone - it's a shame. But I understand it and I agree with it. It may or may not turn out to be the right ourse of action... we'll see.

Well To get the gossip mill going, whilst outside the Madstat for the Blackpool match, Steve Cottrill walked in. At the time it seemed strange why he would be watching us.

How about Paul Ince, certainly prefer hin to son of the winging one.

My big fear is we are assuming that JM and his puppet made the change based on our results [ or lack off], but what if BR asked for funds and told them the truth to the lack of quality we have. JM with his ego could have sacked him on that basis , if that was the case, rearranging the lifeboats on the Titanic comes to mind.
