Alan PartridgeUps and Downs Even the best players miss penalties.
Are people annoyed because he missed or because he's shite?
Personally speaking I don't rate Howard and that's nothing really to do with the pen. It was a poor one having seen it on SSN. I haven't seen 1 game where he's played where I thought he's played really well. He isn't bad from dead ball situations, but I feel Reading have and had far better options already here than Howard. He was a waste of money and wages, like a few of knobhead's signings.

John Madejski's WalletRow Z Royal Howard can, basically, piss off
How come int he absence of Gylfi a player who has only scored one (consolation) goal for us steps up to take the pen when we had strikers on the pitch??

It says a lot for the character of those strikers.

Never been a fan of his, but he got better as he got a longer run in the side, and he played alright during the run of games we looked half decent in before he broke his jaw, so credit where its due
Not sure he was a waste of money and wages, but he certainly isnt a player I was overjoyed at signing, and isnt one I have seen make a massive positive contribution, but on the flip side he hasnt done a hell of a lot wrong either

glass half full Referees generally seem to be either more relaxed or not noticing encroachment by goalkeepers. It is happening far too often and when the authorities are clamping down so hard on 'soft' infringements there ought to be another of their 'crackdowns'.
That said, Camp was awesome and it shows the value of good, consisently safe goalkeeping to a team .

Southbank Old Boy Or a lot about the penalty taking order within the club
Being a forward doesnt make you the best penalty taker of course

Though it may make you the best person to be ready to rush in and pick up a rebound.

URZZZZZZZZ I think the criticism of Howard is unfair, but it wouldn't be RFC without some sort of scapegoat. Howard has just come back from an injury that is bound to knock your confidence, and an extended run out the team can't have helped. Howard has not been any worse than the rest of an underachieving team, yet the events of the past 2 games have corrupted and warped peoples opinions.
Because Howard played little part in the Liverpool game and missed a pen in the Forest game, people have come to the conclusion that he is the worst player in the team, forgetting the 20 odd games that have preceeded it. The Liverpool game was something that we all wanted to revel in, myself in a huge way, but lets not lose a grip on reality.
Howard has not been nearly as bad as many people are saying on here, he's just being made a scapegoat for an honest mistake yesterday.

Harpers So Solid Crew NEVER let left footed players take pens, they just seem to miss so often.

Including Siggurdson?
Is it worth pointing out that a) Howard was something of a catalystfor the team's improvement and b) his lovely cross made it impossible for Kébé to miss (and, let's face it, that's the only way Kébé is ever going to get goals).
