Extended-Phenotype And another owner who lies all the time.

Can we be certain that Madejski knowingly misled fans? I don't think so.

It happens time, and time, and time again. I'm going with 'knowingly'.

PieEater Remember this time we get 4 years of parachute payments, last time it was 3.

So as next years income will be the same this we need not be as desperate to sell star players, assuming of course they are happy to stay and play in the championship.

Wasn't one of the major concerns being mentioned that AZ has already borrowed against the parachute payments? and the £500k a week wage bill isn't something Sir John will be comfortable with. Promotion would be the only thing stopping people leaving in the summer.

That Ian Gillan rumour is ridiculous. I mean I know he's probably got a few bob from his Deep Purple days but really, come off it.

It was back in the 90's

He was one of the potential saviours before SJM came in. He was a frequent visitor to EP

If only we'd had Second Sight*...

Sorry, I skimmed the last few pages and thought it was a current rumour.

Try the 80s. He was sniffing around when the merger with Oxford was on the cards. I actually met him in the old Supporters Club bar after a game and he signed my membership card.

The Old Supports Club, under the North Stand, now that takes me back. Straight in there after the game, scores from BBC on the TV and you got the players, both home and away teams, come in for a pint after changing. Not like these days with players lounge and not mixing with supporters.

Couldn't help it, my formative years were at the height of the NWOBHM craze - wearing denim covered in patches and headbanging at the Holy Joe's discos

And no I couldn't get myself a girlfriend at the time*...

*Not that I'm beating them off with a stick now either

Extended-Phenotype I guess we will never know if, had we turned down TSI, we would have courted a better offer which may have still resulted in promotion, or investment that would see us up the following year.

Forgive me for not really looking forward to the return of JM and losing our best players.

Pretty sure we wouldn't have found anyone around to work to the timelines TSI did or to pump in the funds they did/underwrote that set us up in that window.

Not only did we sign Roberts, Connolly, Mullins, Cywka and Afobe but the new investment meant Kebe signed his new deal and we didn't have to sell anyone.

Without those players we probably wouldn't even have made the play offs.

Not to mention securing Cat 1 status for the academy.

Yes, but for how long though? At an annual cost of £2.5m, we will already return to selling our best player every summer to fill the annual black hole, and now have this to find as well.
