Why not take the last 5 games where we are 1-3-1, have failed to score on 3 occasions and have looked poor?

Because (a) it's dumb and (b) it's a bizarre choice and (c) it was the team reacting to missing out on the automatics

And you don't think 31 games is a bizarre choice?!

THE MANAGER SAID it took a dozen games after Gylfi left to get it right

That is, it was "right" for game 16.

4+11 = 15 leaving 31 games.

I tested his theory by looking at the form from game 15-46 and we were second to Norwich, above QPR, Swansea, Forest and Cardiff.

I didn't CHOOSE, anything. I went from the manager's say-so

and PS, 31 games is two-thirds of a season

Well not really, it coincides with the loss of one of our key players and, just as we had to adapt to playing without Gylfi, we have to adapt to playing without Kebe, something we haven't yet achieved.

Side losing a good player struggles, shock.

So how have we done when Kebe hasn't played?

4 0 W Burnley Away
4 3 W Doncaster
2 1 W Derby
2 1 W Stevenage Away

3 3 D Norwich
1 1 D Cardiff
0 0 D Leeds, Away
0 0 D Coventry, Away
0 0 D Cardiff

1 3 L QPR Away
2 3 L Sheffield United

P11 W4 D5 L2 19-15 17 points from 11 = 1.55 ppg compared to the season's 77 from 46 = 1.67 ppg (five points over 46 games)

But note we had QPR Away, Norwich, Burnley Away in there and Cardif twice, and away to Leeds

So essentially we failed to win 7 out of 10 league games in his absence and two of the teams we beat (Derby and Doncaster) finished 19th and 21st respectively.

Pretty conclusive, eh?

LOL @ Snowball chucking the Stevenage result in there and using it to extrapolate to league form. Desperate.

But what's McDermott basing his opinion on? Presumably, that after that stage in the season results improved: therefore, around game 16 was when we got it right.

And you've looked at the results and shown that, indeed, we were better after game 16.

It's a bit tautological really isn't it?

An alternative reading would be: we adapted by, say, game 8, but our "adapted" side isn't actually quite as good as is suggested by arbitrarily cutting off the parts of the season we didn't do so well in.

I just scanned a spreadsheet for games where Kebe didn't play.

We are all aware that RFC went through a phase of "trying to replace Gylfi"
continuing 451, and then eventually going 442 or 433.

I think the manager knows when his side had settled into a new order
whether or not the results came immediately
