I assume that's what the underlining denotes.

Sheppard counts as under 21 also (under 21 on 1 Jan this year).

So I would suggest we still have one place in the 25 available for a new signing....?

I still have a hard time believing that Sheppard is only 21. He looks about 30.

I can't see Brian naming a squad with only 4 central midfielders. It's very light, especially considering when we're only spending 3 on central defenders. Unless we bring in another midfielder, I think we may well see Bryn make the squad as emergency cover.

+1, especially with Karacan possibly/probably not fully fit for the first few games and Tabb and Guthrie having some injury problems in the past couple of seasons.

Revised to the following:

GKs: Federici, McCarthy, Andersen (or Taylor to allow Andersen out on loan)

LBs: Shorey, Harte

RBs: Cummings, Gunter

CBs: Gorkss, Pearce, Mariappa, Morrison (does not count in 25 due to age)

WMs: Kebe, McAnuff, Robson-Kanu, McCleary

CMs: Karacan, Leigertwood, Guthrie, Tabb, Gunnarsson

STs: Pogrebnyak, Roberts, Le Fondre, Hunt, Church

Still room for Antonio if he changes his mind and signs a new deal.

If the 25th place is used it will be one in one out after that I assume

Jake Taylor? First appeared in the squad over 3 years ago, surely he can't be too far away?

Going to Portugal would be a good hint.

Playing tonight so good chance he won't be going to Portugal. I like Taylor from the few times I've seen him but don't think he could play in a midfield 2 so we'd still need 5 senior CMs imo tbh.

Pick 3 players to remove from this 28 man squad and that may be our final 25 for the coming season (providing we don't sell or bring in further players).
Give it a try. What would you do as manager. It's not that easy...

Goalkeepers: Adam Federici, Alex McCarthy, Mikkel Andersen, Jonathan Henly.

Defenders: Shaun Cummings, Chris Gunter, Ian Harte, Nicky Shorey, Kaspars Gorkss, Alex Pearce, Adrian Mariappa, Sean Morrison.

Midfielders: Jem Karacan, Mikele Leigertwood, Brynjar Gunnarsson, Danny Guthrie, Jay Tabb, Jobi McAnuff, Jimmy Kebe, Garath McCleary, Hal Robson-Kanu, Michail Antonio, Jordan Obita.

Forwards: Noel Hunt, Jason Roberts, Adam Le Fondre, Simon Church, Pavel Pogrebnyak.

I chose Anderson (out on loan), Henly (development or loan) and Bryn (because he has made so few appearances even though he is quality).

TheSiege
Ian Royal siege, you aren't doing yourself a lot of favours here.

Thanks for the thought - but, don't worry, I am more than capable of dealing with the cr*p contributors and this should be a good forum! Good people will make it so! We will soon have a forum based on knowledge, logic and Football Kosher, the Morons will eventaully go back to their mobiles - regardless of when they became HBA contributors!

And it's confirmed, TheSiege is a regular poster on a wind-up.

:| It's pretty bloody easy.

All of the highlighted players are under 21 at the relevant date so don't count towards the squad limit. No need for anyone to miss out or have to go on loan.

So who is missing out if we only have 23 in the squad according to Brian. I make it 24 at the moment.

It's 24 including Bryn - 23 without him...it does, of course mean that there's still one place to fill....can't see us starting the season with a 24 man squad...

Other than the suggestion of Gunnarsson, I can only think we'll only name two keepers and the others will be on loan.

I can see us going with a squad of less than 25 players over 21 if McDermott is happy with his options.
