Would you go as far as saying Alf is probably the most natural finisher Reading have ever had? I'm coming around to that and I've been supporting the club since the 60s.

Absolutely. Since 95 I'd say he's only really challenged by Quinn, Cureton and Kitson for natural finishing ability.

He has such good awareness and makes sure he knows where everyone is and what he's going to do before he gets the ball. It's just something you can't teach.

All super players, no arguments about that. But I don't think Trevor was a natural, and both Kerry and jimmy used physicality to augment their ability. Alf hasn't got that. He just has an instinct and wonderful feet - left and right footed goals tonight - and to me it's more natural. As Ian says, you can't teach that.

If he had Quinns height and physical presence, he'd be better than Shearer. But I'm more than happy with what he does have, and at 300k, another example of Readings ability to pluck talent from nowhere. I'm amazed that given his record in the lower leagues that we were the first to give him his chance higher up the ladder.

I distinctly remember similar scenes after 2 stoppage time goals in the 1-1 with Ipswich '05.

So many fans out their seats & on the way angrily down the stairs in Y25/26 that when our equalizer went in seconds later it was like crowd surfing on a wave of Vs charging towards the South Stand. Epic.
