Thames Valley Police said out of 18 fixtures at the stadium last season, only two were policed.

Supt Stuart Greenfield, area commander for Reading, said: "We would say that Reading Football Club is one of the best run football clubs in the FA.

"It's irresponsible and I don't think it portrays the right picture of Reading football club at all."

Agreed Mags. We know these things happen on a match day now and again. I wouldn't say it's a massive problem at Reading but there is still trouble when the 'right' team is in town.

Only it would seem that the police themselves are far from happy about the way the Chronic has tried to twist those 'facts' in order to suggest that there is a problem when in reality there isn't!

No they didn't, that's true. Thinking more along the lines of putting the two sets of fans on the same end as each other in a crumbling ramshackle stadium barely fit for purpose - but yes, I agree, it's different situation to the one that happened at Hillsborough.

Valley Parade was also a particular tragedy that wouldn't happen these days yet never gets played up anywhere near the same due to the now obvious fire hazard being somewhat overlooked by virtually all concerned - and yet it could be argued that it's similar in that no one really gave a flying one for spectator safety.
