Who would have even put Sonks in their first XI as the season began?

Bit of a shock but bloody good news, the guys a liability and has shown total disrespect to the club. He had one great season where he was a total rock, but nothing, not even a glimpse of that has been since.

Penalties, red cards, disloyalty and huge blunders.. £2mill ..how?

I'm not bothered he's gone. Good luck to the guy and £2m isn't a bad price.
The same old story though, what will happen to the £2m quid?, it will not be re-invested in the club for players, so how about this then Madejski...... why not refund those 14,000 STH £142 each so they can see what it feels like to have money taken out of the club and put in their back pockets !

I think its great business, IF we use the money to buy a proven player not only capable of playing in the fizzy pop league, but is good enough to step up a league.

The management say they are aiming to be in the top flight within a couple of years, so whoever we sign on a three year deal, means we are expecting them to play in the top flight.

Hope the players we claim to have watched for ages, like Halford and Fae, plus the likes of Bennett and Sodje etc are a thing of the past.

Lets look to get in a quality replacement, so the squad has the quality in depth to handle suspensions/injuries etc.

Agree, now I know how it feels to be cork city and cambridge, in big financial trouble so have to sell with only 10% of transfer funds made available.

This is quite simply the best news and funniest signing of the season. Sonko has lost a yard of pace and is frankly awful, wonderful news.

I'm afraid that's where your idea falls down.

Tamworth - I unfortunately agree.

I do think its great business, as he'd become a liability, but the squad need strength in depth.

How many promotions are won and lost when clubs can't field a strong starting eleven, and their replacements are simply not up to it.

Agreed, coppell would of played him regardless because hes too loyal to players. It has to either be an injury, suspension or sale of a player for the idiot not to play them. Thankfully now hes gone, we won't see his clumsy mistakes all season long like last year.

TBH i really dont think we need to replace him. What with having BK back, whom i expect to go straight into the squad. We have Doobs (once fit), Ivar and Pearce. Apparently Cisse can play there too.

I'd rather let Pearce have a ruddy good go at getting the spot / bench then buy some one anyway.

Good luck to him, but glad he's gone. Far too expensive a full back anyway. Mint at this level - but never good enough for PL.

I've been screaming for Pearce and some of the other youth to be in the starting X1 for age's and I'm delighted that at least Pearce might be given a longer spell in the first team. The problem is, Doobs is becoming a bit of a sick note, Ivar's form is on the wobble, that leave's Bikey and pearce. What happens if one of them get injured?

Sorry folks but once again Coppell thinks we are covered in that position........ like we were on the Right Wing last season !

The best piece of transfer business the club has done in ages, :D , £2 million for an absolute liability is excellent news. A real positive to come out of this is that Pearce really goes up the pecking order now. Perhaps a new centre-back pairing of Pearce and Bikey for the long term? The club still need to get in 2 or 3 players to bolster the squad but all in all a good day.

disappointed and surprised and happy.

shame sonks is going, good player for 2 seasons, but hasnt looked the same since injury..always been a bit of a liability.....usually great in the air...terrible when ball on the ground...should suit Stoke's play to a T

disappointed as we are in danger of having no players with experience in the side

surprised Stoke bought him but heard this rumour months ago

happy as it will give the likes of Pearce (and some of the other acemdy lads) a chance, maybe a good time freshen the squad up too

hope pearce and Noel hunt start of Sat (gutted wont be there as on hols!!)

Pearce and Bikey are the future in my view, with Ivar and Doobs to back up. We've lost our most error prone liability who since returning from injury has done nothing but give away penalties and get himself red cards as well as making countless blunders. Charlton proved that he can't be trusted even up here and Stoke have made a truly shocking signing, it's hilarious!

isnt Bikey a liability though as he doesnt read the game very well as is a bit rash, but unlike sonks can play football

would have thought a better pairing would be pearce and ingi (he at least has some experience)
