OLEEE!!! hmmm... i cant help but think that this signing of less than a million is going to be the last staff investment this summer and Madejski is going to use the other £4.5mill + to add another conference room in the Hotel...

We've bought at least on million-plus player in five of the last six transfer windows. I wouldn't assume we'll see anyone else, but neither would I assume we won't.

start of the season we had 3 small but fast strikers that could run past defenders, yet all did the same thing with no variation. Now we have 4...

Fair enough. What I was trying to say in my obscure way was not buying anyone else wouldn't exactly be "the Reading way"... although there might be a new Reading way to go with relegation... cutting our coat to ... clothe our suit? what is that saying?

Shaka's Giant Hands Well I will wait to see for myself before making any judgement........if nothing else there's excellent Christmas chant potential!

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

This star drew nigh to the northwest
O'er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both Pause and stay
Right o'er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then entered in those Wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven and earth of nought
And with his blood mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

So to take the best bit, the chant shall be something along the lines of.....

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Give it a kick, get us a goal

Top jibbing Mr Madejski. £5.5m in, and a replacement for less than a million.

To agree with some posts above, we now have four strikers of similar size and presence (although it appears N Hunt is more physical than the others). As above, I would like to see a return to the excellent wing-play we saw in 2006/07, but for that to be effective there have to be strikers for the crosses to hit. I still think we need a 'target man'.

I'm not overly disappointed at this signing - but I just look at Derby and see them spending £1.75m on Hulse and can't help feeling a little jealous.

How about we sell the other Hunt for about £4million,laugh all the way to the bank and buy another left-winger who can cross a ball to strikers that have been hungry for a year?

In Gaelic football is the ball wellied forward in the general direction of the other goal,i.e the Reading way of last season?
If so we can make even more money by playing football and rugby on alternate Saturdays and then Gaelic football midweek-the chairman might then be happy that the ground is fully utilised, even more money will come in and the same players that turn out for football turn out for the Gaelic stuff.
It's a good job that Ireland don't have a football team at The Olympics.

Welcome Noel, Be interesting if we settle on these 4 or try and bring in someone 6ft+ as well. If they don't then it does leave us a bit one dimensional.

I think we should sell Hunt for £4m then buy a left-winger from St Mirren for £600k.

I know we need to give the lad time to prove himself, but this signing, assuming it is our only major signnig of the summer, does nothing to restore my confidence in the club. I hope I am wrong, but our record with players from the Scottish league is not exactly great.

unfortunately i think the signing of the younger brother has put a stop to that now!Who knows if Sunderland are daft enough to pay 4 or so million still then there's still the possibility but their interest seems to have declined dramatically, and no other team has been properly linked to him. I still think Convey could do a decent enough job on the left, maybe even play s hunt in the middle if harper goes as he looked ok there but id rather have a replacement in the middle (or give karacan a chance to shine).

Which bit are you jealous about? The fact they spent £1.75m or that they signed Rob Hulse?

We sign a striker for under £1m who scored 17 goals last season in the SPL, Derby sign a striker for £1.75 who scored ZERO goals last season in 24 appearances and you are jealous of them?

As you might be able to tell I don't share your jealousy.

Hulse is a proven player in the English league WR, 1 bad season off the back of an injury doesn't change that, same as Lita and Doyle. Ok both got a few goals but performances were well down last season, both are still good players. Hulse is the type of forward that we probably need in terms of size and stature. He'll get double figures easy next season.

I am willing to give Hunt jnr a chance, he sounds a tidy enough player and 1 thing i do like about him is that he genuinely wants to be here.

Could be a very good signing, decent record in Scotland. Strong and apparently got a great leap on him. Will give the lad a chance

Good to see the usual suspects putting a negative spin on things. I'm sure if we signed Kaka some would find a way to make it a bad thing.
