Royals-lad14 was against an average league 1 side though, lets see how he fairs in the championship

...that very same statement could as easily apply to Jordan Rhodes........

Absolutely, add Le Fondre to that too.

Not really, we've seen how ALF fares in the championship.

The Rouge he just scored a lovely goal for Sheff Wed. He's been dangerous all night to be fair.

Thought he and Sheff Wed were absolute cack until the oldham keeper gifted them a goal to be honest.

Scored a corker and won a penalty. I already think we'll regret it, perhaps a loan would've been better. If he performed well and we went down....

He'd have been out of contract.

Dont letfacts get in the way, the guy now has a chance and a contract elsewhere, we can watch him and see him as a product of RFC, about time we hade someone worth keeping an eye on.

As for costs, at 16 you earn £500 a week at RFC, and we must have a few of that age. Might only be a couple of years, but add the other costs and we need a decent success rate of selling, or first teamers coming through.

Not according to the mum (who I work with) of one of the current scholars, it's just shy of £200 a week according to her

Not arguing, but this was straight from the horses mouth. I guess there could be a different wage structure. I was told the lads he knows are on 500. And the money goes direct, and it not put aside, so if they dont make it they have a had a time on good money then have to join the real world.

No, let's just loan him out again and if he does well, keep him, Jobi is getting on a bit, if he doesn't do so well, get rid of him
:P

think the point was he was fed up of being loaned, and wanted to go, for the good of his career.

Plus, as has been said several times, he only had one year of his contract remaining. With other clubs interested in him, why would we send him out on loan and just hope that he'll sign a new deal at the end of it, or offer him a new deal now (for which he'd probably want more money) if we're not going to play him?

winchester_royal I'll back up RR's statement and go one further.

Within 2 years Antonio will not be a regular Championship player.

I think within 3 years he'll be at a club that finish higher in the table than we do.

Royal Ginger Gutted, really liked this guy. He had to go, it's best for him, that's obvious, but we'll regret this in years to come.

Gotta point the finger at Adkins for letting him slip through the net.

Absolutely and I will say it again, we are making a big mistake here.

paultheroyal Ian he started how many games? Oh and I won't even get into the debate of how many of them you actually saw?

He was under so much pressure with his starts knowing full well he was going to be bombed out once Kebe fit etc. Put him in steady side with a guaranteed start the the fella delivered. No argument about that.

We then move onto yesterday and he was head and shoulders above Mcleary and pretty much everyone else in that team yesterday. Based on your logic still bomb him out?

I have a horrible feelIng we will regret decision in letting him go and struggle to see how Robson Kanu would remain at the club over Antonio.

Just another example of how promotion oxf*rd us. He was useless to us for the Prem and needed to play regularly at a lower level than that to develop into the player he could be. Which he has.

Shit happens, but the reason he's torn us a new one is because he got to leave and play.

Wasn't it his attitude that got him binned off, rather than his ability?

Which is exactly why we need to give the current crop a decent crack at it this season & not get on their backs.

Absolutely. We're now in a position where we can give players a chance for a while at least. We're not having to worrying about sustaining a promotion push or a higher level.
