Dick Habbin's hairdo The proverbial turning circle of an oil tanker, slow, poor positionally and wouldn't know how to actually find a player with a pass of less than 20 yards. Showed a certain amount of passion when up for the big games and fairly useful - and a nuisance - at attacking corners but, other than that: Over-rated. Over-valued. Over him.

Mozza - on the other hand.

What a bizarre comment. Pearce was a solid defender who covered his lack of pace pretty well and passed the ball more than adequately if perhaps a bit too conservatively at times. We looked our most solid with him in the side and he was caught out a lot less than Morrison last season.

It's a shame he's almost certainly gone, but if he has the chance to play at a higher level on as much or more money then fair play to him.

Anyone who claims that losing Pearce isn't a blow to the club is living in a fantasy world. He is clearly a premiership standard CB and it's just a shame that him and Mariappa won't get another season together (along with decent full backs).

If he goes to Leeds that would be ridiculous.

Definitely Elm Park Kid. There's no such thing as a "premiership".

Actually there is one Premiership in English sport that I can imagine Pearce being suitable for.

I would've been happy to see him stay as he could have done a job for us next season and beyond. This particular problem harks back to pre-Anton days. We should have signed good players on long contracts and transitional ones on short contracts. The problems of finances and not knowing which division we would be in has recently made us too shy about contracts. Good young players should be contracted for as long as possible. Hopefully, this may happen under Anton.

Possibly another example of an agent getting into a player's ear and making him seem better than he is. More fool Pearce for swallowing the bait. He is not EPL quality and is extremely unlikely to be so in the future. The only downside is we didn't get any money for him.

Perhaps Pearce has read the thread where Royalee said he was better than Michael Duberry?

Anyway, it's just a symptom of the football as a business. I don't blame him for it but he can't expect Reading fans to be happy for him.

Agreed.

His ball control was appalling to point he looked scared of it, his main skill was heading and even then he managed to find an opposition player with most of them.

Terminal Boardom He is not EPL quality
I suppose you could try to argue that. But there's very little between the top of the Championship and the bottom of the Premier League, and Pearce played well in the Premier League, so the case is weak.
and is extremely unlikely to be so in the future.

That's complete nonsense. A player who plays to Pearce's standard in the Championship is more likely than not to make the step up, and that's disregarding Pearce already showing he's capable in the top flight.

I get that people don't like that a player has decided to leave, but the about-face from some people... actually it shouldn't surprise me.
