Saw Brayson play in about 2005 for Northwhich against Lancaster, still as useless as ever. Think his biggest claim to fame came when he won FA Cup player of the round twice and got 2 seats at Wembley...

Didn't he hit the post at Forest - last game of the season when we got relegated?

Always tried hard though, couldn't fault him on that. OK so he was not good enough for the FL but its not his fault his manager at the time thought Division 3 was on a par with Scottish Division 3.

Definitely so

It was on the telly and everything.

Remember swearing at the cameraman at the end as he was desperately seeking the blubbing Royals money shot.

And had to use both of them for himself.

Sean Evers probably takes that award for me.

I hated Evers but I expected less from him than the captain of Sporting Lisbon!

Dunno, I expected a 700k mega hyped prospect from Luton to spunk all over Division 2, I didn't expect as much from a bloke who'd played three minutes that season and had come to us for what 300k or something silly?

£600k wasn't it? Shitting Nora though, that still means Evers cost more. And when that amount of money meant more.

I'm actually going to defend Paul Brayson. Yes he was out of his depth BUT, he joined a shit team on a catrastrophically bad run, that wasn't creating chances. His goalscoring record everywhere else in his career was pretty decent, albeit at a lower level.

As for hitting the post vs Forest, didn't that shot trickle over the line to provide Brayson with his one and only goal in 49 appearances for Reading?

Pretty sure his only goal was in the 3-1 defeat at Wolves a few weeks before that game, might even have given us the lead.

Brayson must be past 250 goals now, and earns more than a lot of L2 players do. He played for England C, Cardiff, Cheltenham and York. He is a non league legend in the NE and actually parks arses on seats. And the ball hit the inside of the post V Forest and trickled along the line. My then wife cried.

That's all I know about PB. Which is probably too much. And I didn't resort to Google.
